Beaches Turks & Caicos
looking for a family summer trip to this resort- so expensive- for 2 adults & 2 kids, least expensive room was $1200 per day....could it really be worth it? Looking for something different than Atlantis- been there past 5 summers- any input appreciated

Have never stayed there BUT, reviews are always great and people love it. TCI is a very expensive island .

love t&c. have not stayed at beaches - we prefer to rent houses.
as an alternative you could look at http://www.occidentalhotels.com/grand/Xcaret.asp which is connected to http://xcaret.com/ not part of the resort but nearby you can play golf, dive, tour ruins, tour caves & cenotes, zipline, ride atv into the jungle, horseback on the beach, another park called xel-ha & more. |
Have you priced rooms through a travel agent? That sounds really high to me. I think you can do better. (Though realize that $1200 per day for 2 adults and 2 kids isn't that bad considering this is all-inclusive, but it does seem a little high ...but not much since this is a very expensive destination). You can do the trip for a third of that if you are willing to stay at a very nice condo resort in a full 1-bedroom condo. But you do pay extra to stay at Beaches.

To add to Doug's comments, there are actually travel agents that specialize in Beaches.
There is a local on island travel agent (in Turks) that had 55-65% off the rooms depending on the category: Www.turksandcaicosreservations.tc I met them when I did my current update for Fodors. They live on island and will get you the lowest rate out there for Beaches. Ask for the French Village. Or if you can afford the Italian Village, it's beautiful and where the small water park is. Don't expect Atlantis, there's nothing else like it in the Caribbean. But I do think Beaches is one of the best AIs in Caribbean. If you don't go the Beaches route, there are many upscale family friendly condos there treated like resorts with excellent restaurants, better than the restaurants in Bahamas, but the pools and activities are much lower key. |
