Beaches or Atlantis?

We are planning a trip to the Bahamas and Turks/Caicos early next year. We will have an 8 year with us for part of the trip and then sending her home with family for the rest or our stay. What would be more worth the money, Atlantis, Paradise Island or Beaches T/C? There are so many mixed reviews out there, and we know no one who has been to the Caribbean (not even sure if these are the best places to go?) We plan to stay at Grace Bay Club for our time alone. Sorry, this rambled on, really looking for some good advice. Thanks.

Definitely Beaches. We've been to both resorts. Atlantis has incredible grounds, wonderful water slides, a built-in aquarium. It's really fabulous. HOWEVER, it is a gambling environment and that brings with it many more smokers and drinkers. (hope I didn't offend you!) Also, weather in the Bahamas is iffy. Food is VERY expensive there. One would think that a food plan would be a good idea, but it was more expensive than going a la carte! It was so windy when we were there in April that we couldn't use the beach! Beaches is strictly families and they do a fabulous job with kids activities, general safety issues, water sports. A better environment for kids overall; and if the kids are happy, guess who gets to enjoy their vacation?! Good luck with your decision. (The grounds at Atlantis CANNOT be beat; the general atmosphere and VALUE can!)
