beaches on St. Barths
Hello:
Does anyone know about Anse Des Cayes
beach as far as the size of it?
I may be renting a villa there and want to
know if this is a good idea and if I can
get to the beach at St. Jean easily?

Thanks.
Barb

If you'd like to see a photo of Anse des Cayes, go to
www.st-barths.com/beaches/indexfr.html

Anse des Cayes fronts the Manapany Cottages. I remember it being a rutty dirt road off the "main road" to get there. I'd say from the Manapany it's maybe a 10-min drive to St. Jean.

Anse de caye is not a great beach for swimming. If your villa is high enough up you will have a nice view. The sun will be behind you and again depending on where your situated you may lose it early in the day. Ask your broker.

We have been to St. Barths five times and I don't believe Anse Des Cayes is a very nice beach. Not to worry though because any of the lovely beaches, including St. Jean, are accessible by car (a car is a necessity) and it's only about a 10 minute drive to any of them or to any of the wonderful restaurants. The driving is half of the fun of being there because around every turn is another beautiful view. But just be very careful as the roads are not the best. Enjoy!

Hello:
Thanks to all your replies.
I have the option to stay on St. Jean
beach to which I will choose instead.
Thanks, Barb

B-
While St. Jean is a really nice beach, it is quite noisy as the airport is right on St. Jean and the road cuts close to the beach. Just a thought... you will be thrilled with the island, no matter where you choose to stay.
