Beach Vacation with 3 yr Old

Please help me decide the best location for a quickish (4 nights) beach getaway this Feb. We are in Dallas and initially thought Cancun, due to the quick flight. Less than 3 hrs flight with a 3 yr old is a big plus...

But I have been to Cancun and Playa, and I know the drawbacks. I would prefer to go to Grand Cayman, even with the flight connection, since we are using miles to get wherever we go.

I guess the question is this - we have two choices:

-Cheaper vacation in Cancun (Presidente Intercontinental)

-More $ to stay in Grand Cayman at Sunshine Suites

Both hotels are running specials. The SS special includes a car, which is a wash b/c in Cancun we won't need one.

Is it worth it to save a few $ and go to Cancun? It is closer and cheaper - not significantly - and the idea is that we won't be exploring around Cancun, we will be staying put at the hotel / beach. Or will the beach experience - due to size of beach in Cancun - crowds, and buildings - be a big disappointment?

Since you've been to Cancun, maybe
try Cayman.

Didn't the Cancun beach get eroded from past hurricane? I know they tried to restore, but...

When in February? Some colleges start springbreak at the end of the month and Cancun can be really crowded and rowdy. I would say GC, just because it is something new and the beach may be better, alot calmer, for your child.

We were thinking late February, and yes the spring break question has entered my mind - I always thought it was March but if it starts for some in Feb, that would be a problem.

I am leaning towards Grand Cayman. Can anyone provide info on reasonable accommodations there? Have looked at Sunshine Suites and Comfort Suites. My concern with Sunshine Suites is the walk to the beach. But they are offering a great deal (227 with car rental and b/fast). Is the walk a big deal?

Additionally, are there other beaches aside from Seven Mile that are worth looking into? Since we have the 3 yr old, the most important thing to us is easy access to a nice stretch of beach. Not going to be diving this trip so a great dive spot is not a great spot for us.
