Beach House Villas - Negril

Wondering if anyone can provide a review or any info on the Beach House Villas in Negril. Looking into honeymoon spots for May 2005 and Negril is 1 destination we're looking at. We're wanting to do 5 nights at an AI - hopefully The Caves - and 5 nights at a hotel/resort. We checked the RockHouse, but they're booked for the time we want to go... Thought the Beach House Villa's looked like a good alternative...

Congratulations!

The only info I can offer is that the beach in front of Beach House Villas is fairly narrow in comparison to other areas.

From personal experience, I can highly recommend the lovely jr suites at Coco La Palm. They're HUGE, nicely but not luxuriously done, and in May they should be really cheap. We're going back for the third time this February. It's hard to beat the price or the location, which is on one of the best parts of 7-mile Beach. You can check out Coco's reviews on tripadvisor.com.

Also I had looked into Rondel Village when it seemed that COco might have no availability, and it looks very nice. Rondel also has great reviews on tripadvisor.com

Good luck, and have fun in Negril!

We were in Negril in May & loved it. The only sad thing is that lobster season is closed. Some places have frozen (which was fine for us) but our next trip will be when it's open.
Try checking at www.negril.com for postings about Beach House. There are many locals & repeat visitors that post there. You will get good info from people there too.

Be sure to take a tour of the Negril area. If you want a good & safe guide that is reasonable then contact Soloman Kerr at Talk of the Town Tours. We used him in May & he was excellent. He is also very helpful with info you might want to know before your trip. His wife is from the US & she was great helping us find the best deals for shopping.

Have a great honeymoon. The people in Negril will share their wonderful spirit with you & it is so relaxing.

We stayed at The Caves last December. While there are a lot of things we liked about the hotel, especially the food, we missed being on the beach and moved to Moondance Villas our last two nights. I highly reccomend it. Very high end accomodations and great staff. Not sure how their beach is after the hurricanes but last year it was very wide and deep. A very well managed property. Would be glad to answer any other questions you have.

Eyeski,

We are scheduled to stay at Moondance in Lilac Mist, the one bedroom villa, for three nights over New Year's. How far are the villas from the beach? Also, what is the story on the staff? Does each villa have their own, or do they share? Is food readily available? How much are the staff around? We like a good deal of privacy and I'm a little concerned because I've never stayed anywhere with a "staff" before, although I've heard they are wonderful. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jamie;

We stayed at Moondance last April for a week in the 2-bdrm unit. Here's the deal...

The one and two bedroom units are located behind the larger units which are "beachfront" Thus these two units do not have any kind of a view but rather are lushly landscaped. That said, they are only about a one-two minute walk to the beach at the most. Theses two units also share a pool. This is not a problem really because no one really uses the pool since the beach is so beautiful.

As for staff........again when we were there, the one and two bedroom units also shared a housekeeper, cook and bartender. Not a problem at all as far as we were concerned. On the contrary if there was once complaint I had it would have been that the staff really does not have enough to do and thus hang out a bit to much. These two units are small enough that there really is not enough room for them to hang except for the main living area. I suppose if I would have asked them to hang somewhere else they would have, but it was ok. If you want a lot of privacy, just make it clear upon your arrival. I'm sure it will not be a problem.

Food is very good and plentiful at meal time. If however you want much "snack food" you'll can have them pick that up in advance for you. Also if you just want something quick, there are plenty of places within a short walk on the beach for a snack as well.

Moondance IMHO is hands down the nicest place in Negril if it works for your budget and vacationing style. It is also arguably on the best part of the beach. Watch your stuff on the beach however as my daughter had a pair of sandals taken right off our chair during the day sometime. (our own fault I suppose) Good luck, Negril is a super spot!

We actually ended up in a 5 bedroom for the 1 bedroom rate because that was all that was available and my wife did a great negotiating job. Ours was less then a minute from the beach, we had our own cook and bartender. Privacy was never a problem. We did not opt for the all-inclusive option but they did leave some snacks for us after dinner.

My husband and I stayed at Moondance Villas at the end of July, it was awesome!!!!! We spent half of the week in the 1 bdroom villa, and then moved to the 3 bedroom villa for the second half. The one bedroom is not directly on the beach, however you have a private backyard with your own hot tub and a beautiful dining gazebo. It is very private and lush back there!! We had our own private staff all week, and they were are soooo accomodating. We actually enjoyed having them around, however they will be as discreet as you want them to be. We loved our chef, and the food so much that after the first day, we switched to the all inclusive plan because we figured it could't get much better that this anywhere else. We were treated like royalty and we're already planning to go back with a few other couples next summer.

Enjoy!!
