barcelo maya tropical resort

has anyone been to the barcelo maya tropical resort in the mayan riviera? We are going there this Christmas 06. We have been to the Iberostar maya and it was the best resort we have ever been to.

Hi, My family of 10 spent Christmas at Barcelo about 3 years ago. My grandchildren loved it. It is a huge resort with a new section added on the far side of the pier since we have been there. Never had a problem finding chairs in the shade on the beach even mid-day. Fairly good snorkeling off the pier when the waves were calm. The buffet provided choices for everyone. In fact, most gained weight. The only complaint was with the management. They gave us a room for 4 with one king bed, and they were totally unconcerned. We had to stand and stand at the front desk to get it resolved for the next day. They kept passing the problem to others and it was difficult to know who was in charge. We did take a trip to Tulum which we all enjoyed. There are several pools, but the water was too cold. Enjoy. If any other questions, just ask. Owa

It has been a couple of years since we have been to the Barcelo Maya original resort, but we have been 3 times and it is the first all-inclusive in the Caribbean where we have been repeat visitors. We found it to be a very good resort on a wonderful beach with great snorkeling off the beach. Check out this website for the most comprehensive information about this resort. The new Tropical resort looks amazing and is on the save wonderful beach cove.

We also enjoyed the resort several years ago and have since recommended it to family and friends. No one was ever disappointed. You've made a great choice! Enjoy!!

Just wanted to add that the pools at most, if not all, of the hotels/resorts in this area of Mexico are not heated, and when we were there at the end of November one year the ocean was warmer than the pools, but the pools were still bearable.
