I was in Provo in 2005. I really did not like that the hotels are not hidden in the trees but right on the beach and they are right after another -- that is to me is overbuilt but you can use a different term if you would like. There was construction going on everywhere. I am sure that part is different now but I doubt that some buildings were removed from the beach

In any case. We enjoyed our time in Provo but it is not my favorite island at all. The beach and the water are wonderful but there is nothing else on the island.

I agree that the diving in Grand Cayman is great and Seven Mile Beach is one of the best beaches in the world. There is an excellent choice of restaurants. If you dine at the Ritz Carlton or Westin you will pay USD50 for breakfast, if you go to local restaurants catering to the budget conscious, it is more like USD 30 for breafast, USD50 for lunch.

As alisa has mentioned, there has been quite a bit of building on Grace Beach in the past 10 years but it still my favorite spot followed close by Barbados. Barbados has more to do and a people with a history. Also as George mentioned, food costs are high but certainly Barbados is the cheapest of the 3.
George, a great alternative for breakfast if at the Ritz or Westin is 'EATS' across the street from the Westin, good food ,nice atmosphere $10/pp

We were at Grace bay shortly after the holiday timeframe. I think it was January 7th. We were there for one week. We got a wonderful deal at that time $1K (per person) including air from JFK.(A/I as well) This was back in 2001. We needed the R&R after the hectic holiday but after one week we were ready to come home to "winter." I need a lot more then what T&C had to offer at that time. According to Alisa23 very little has changed. If it is totally rest you want then it is great. If you like some more activities and stimulation I would choose a different island. We have never gone back. It is just not for us but to each his own. The water is gorgeous and you could snorkel right off the beach not sure if that still exists. All have nice water nor huge factor for me.

I was to Barbados twice for the day on a cruise ship and next year we have even put in a trade for Barbados versus Aruba for our timeshare. I have been to Aruba 6 times and I am always ready to go back but I would like a trade. DH did scuba dive in GC and T&C. He did say Grand Cayman was very good but it does not sound as if you are divers if that is the case I would avoid GC due to high prices for food. Personally I would go with Barbados.
