Barbados / Saint Martin / St Thomas
we will be on Carnival Victory will be stopping in Barbados, St Martin and St thomas.
We want to snorkel in one of these sports and do an island tour in one, and not sure what else. which has better snorkeling? we are looking at http://www.barbadoscruiseexcursions....Catamaran.html for barbados. Barbados does have monkeys which seem popular, is that a better activity for Barbados? Which island is better for shopping? |

Swimming with the turtles is a popular activity in Barbados. Check out Glory Tours for things to see and do in Barbados.
http://www.glorytours.org/tours.html St. Thomas definitely for shopping. Tons and tons of jewerly stores, but I really enjoyed the linen shops and bought several. We did a full Island tour of St. Thomas that we enjoyed and St. John that included snorkeling at Trunk Bay (disappointed in the snorkeling there). We also snorkeled at Coki Beach (fabulous snorkeling there) and did the helmet dive at Coral World. Granted we were there for a week, so got do see and do more than a cruise stop, but it will give you an idea of things to see and do there. Sorry, not familiar with St. Martin. |
St Martin / Sint Maarten is NOT great for snorkeling - there are many FAR better locations - BUT it IS great for entirely duty free shopping.
Front Street in Philipsburg - the Dutch Side capital where your ship will dock - has some of the best shopping in the Caribbean, but even though it IS duty free, you won't save much on cameras and electronics, though you will on jewelery, watches, linens and many other luxury items. It is also an attractive, well maintained, clean, street which, in spite of the numerous shops, still somehow manages to retain quite a bit of old Caribbean charm. |
Swimming with the turtles in Barbados is great! Very cool experience.
St. Thomas- take a day trip over to St. John for beaches/snorkeling, I thought Hawksnest had the best snorkeling out of the north shore beaches we visited. St. Martin - shopping in Phillipsburg and if you have time grab a cab to Sunset Beach Bar to watch the planes land. Enjoy! |
