Barbados March trip-Bougainvillea?
Hi - my boyfriend and I are planning a week's vacation (dates flex) 1st week of March and were thinking of Barbados. Bougainvillea sounded interesting because of the prices. We prefer not renting a car and are interested in relaxing, hanging at the beach, pool, sightseeing, good music, food - but nothing too uppity. I am interested in a nice hotel though. Would appreciate any input. We're in our mid 30s. THX!

I'm bumping this to the top to see if someone will answer. I'm interested too.

We loved the Bougainvillea and would go again. Close to the Gap. I would rent a car though, there is alot to see and do around the island.

We only stayed one night as we were continuing on to PSV the next day.
The rooms were nice, the bar area fun and the people very friendly. We walked on the beach at night at the resort and thought it was a nice location to come back again. Good place to stay for the money. |
We stayed at Bouganvillia in Oct. Loved the hotel. Great staff, food, clean, well fun.
Boug is def. not uppity. Very nice staff. The taxi fare is reasonable to the gap from the Boug. When you book, ask your TA about the Best of Barbados program so you get free breakfast every morning. That's a bonus. You could also look at Southern Palms. Great hotel and walk to the Gap. We stayed there a couple of years ago and also highly recommend. Peace, Greenie |
We have stayed at the Bougainvillea 4 times and love it! There are a lot of kids, but they mostly hang around the pool. The staff is really friendly, beach bar is fun and all rooms have a view of the sea. For a romantic dinner out at one of the best restaurants on the island, go to The Restaurant at Southseas in the Gap (need reservations). Also Pravda lounge in the Gap is a very cool, stylish martini-type bar. Don't miss Oistins Fish Fry on Fri. night - cheap & cheerful night with fantastic fresh fish. You can walk to the Gap during the day for fun lunch spots. We have never rented a car - just take cabs which are cheap and easy. HAVE FUN!

Question about Pravda -- what are it's hours, any food offered, and what age group is this for?
Lois |
Pravda is open for dinner Tues. - Sun. and I just saw that they now offer 2 dinner seatings - 6:30-7:00 and 8:30-9:00. We did eat dinner there last year and the menu is fairly minimal. The food was excellent though. There were also appetizers on offer and one night we just went for that and cocktails. The age seemed varied. Definitely not for children. Very stylish locals and well dressed tourists (i.e. might feel out of place in shorts and t-shirts)

I can recommend southern palms, location is fantastic, massive beach front location. I Think it will be pricier than bougainvillea tho. St lawrence Gap is a great location for eating out etc.
Anyone know what its like early march we fancy it too? Only ever been in mid December before. |
We were there for almost 2 weeks in early March and only had 1 day of rain...and of course, a warm soft rain. Other than that it was perfect.
