Barbados hotel in St. James

I'm planning a quick getaway holiday to the Caribbean at the end of May and have settled on Barbados. I'm looking for recommendations for a resort. I've gone through TripAdvisor and this forum and haven't had much luck with my criteria. Hoping you all can help.

I'm unlikely to leave the resort so I'm looking for a beautiful property that's beachfront with an excellent pool and restaurant. I usually spend most of time by the pool with some long walks on the beach, maybe some water activities if he resort has loaner equipment. Based on my research, St. James seems to be the most recommended beach.

Sandy Lane is completely out of my price range but I can spend up to $400-500/night, although less would be better. What are some of the upper mid-range resorts that might fit my criteria? The photos of Colony Club make it look amazing, mostly because the pool isn't the typical rectangle. That said, I can't tell if another resort would be better suited.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations.

Cobblers Cove is a beautiful hotel, beachfront with swimming pool and has an excellent restaurant (Relais & Châteaux). It's a smaller hotel, more private, with gorgeous gardens. It's in St Peter Parish, not St James (which is a parish, not a beach.) These parishes have the best beaches.

Thanks. Yes, I know they are parishes. I just didn't know it was custom to write out the full name when most of the areas are parishes. Thanks for the tip.

At your suggestion, I looked at Cobblers Cove. You are correct that the gardens look lovely. Unfortunately, it's pool area is quite small. I'm hoping to find a larger property.

Cobblers Cove is small hence a smallish pool and it is beside the sea which is great for swimming. It is a wonderful hotel.

The Crane Hotel is in a stunning setting, it is in St Philip, which is not near St James. I have visited the hotel as it is in a beauty spot but not stayed there. The pools look amazing, the beach is beautiful. Since you are not planning to leave the resort and need somewhere with great amenities, this might be suitable for you. They have Sunday Gospel Breakfast too.

My husband and I stayed at Cobblers Cove on our Honeymoon 32 years ago and absolutely loved it! Very secluded and private with beautiful grounds, pool and restaurant. I would highly recommend. We are heading back to Barbados for our 4th trip end of May. We've run the gamut...Cobblers Cove, Almond Beach Club (now The Club) next door to Sandy Lane, Turtle Beach (South Coast), and this time we decided to rent a condo at Glitter Bay for a more "homey" feel. Honestly, I don't think you would be disappointed no matter where you stay! Barbados is a great island with beautiful beaches, lots to explore and the friendliest people!
