Barbados (almond BEach) or St, Lucia, Sandals Halcyon?

Which has the better weather in late January, better beaches, and nicer resort?

I have never been but I do know that St. Lucia is not known for it's beaches. It has the dark sand is more of a lush/tropical island with rainforests, hills etc. If looking for a great beach, Barbados would probably be the better choice. Good luck in deciding!

We DO like St. Lucia, but we stay in the Northern part, at LeSport. The beach is small but nice; the beaches are even nicer in the Southern part, i.e., Jalousie Hilton.

Barbados was great - just don't stay on the eastern part of the island (Atlantic is too rough for swimming, very rocky). Around St. Lawrence/Gap area is better.

Hope this helps!

With the exception of the pitons, I didn't find any difference in the northern beaches than the southern beaches. Just curious, GM, what you found to be different.

I can only commnet on Sandals Halcyon. Beach ther eis very nice- sand is dark but water is very calm and clear. Beautiful property; very lush. Great laid back and romantic feel and the people were so wonderful.

wE liked St. Lucia - the mountains are so gren and just amazing. See much to see.

For poster 'Mary' re: your question to my post.

We found the beaches to be different. For example, the water at Jalousie's property is a little less wavier than up at LeSport, and seems just a little more warmer also. The clarity and color seems just about the same.

St. Lucia's beaches are not THE most awesome in the Carib, but we like the resort and don't mind that one little 1/2 of a minor point at all.

Rachel - We've stayed at ABV, Sandals Halcyon and LeSport, even though you didn't ask about that resort. We liked least ABV. Sandals was great and loved the pampering at LeSport. The weather will probably be similar in Jan on either island. ABV's beach was nothing much, even if the sand was whiter than in St. Lucia. I liked the cove at LeSport best out of these 3 properties even if the sand was blackish.
