Barbados Advice
So early this July, our family of 4 (2 daughters ages 18 and 16) will be vacationing in Barbados. We will be staying at the Fairmont on the west coast. We've never been to Barbados before so we have two questions:
1. are there any must see destinations, must do activities, or must eat at restaurants? 2. Is there anything/places to avoid? Thanks in advance!! |
Check the Tripadvisor Barbados forum - it is pretty active and lots of great information there. I am going next January on a girlfriend trip and can't wait! Just booked a condo and airfare!! :)
Come back here and post after your trip please. |

There is a tour called 'Island Safari,' its excellent
Barbados is a great place to learn to surf if your teens are interested Water skiing by the Fairmont is good The GAP area has some great restaurants About my only 'avoid' is snorkeling. Its not bad, but it isnt great either |
Somemust do activities I think would be Catamaran cruises, where you can all go swimming with the turtles , Ariel trek ( google for more information, Island Safari 4 x4 tour is a nice action tour which takes you around the island and includes lunch, and for something a little quieter there is garrisons cave.
Some Favourite restaurants include Il Tempio and Spago ( Italian , on the west coast) Roti Den ( West coast) Sea Cat ( west coast ) Cafe Sol ( Mexican - St. Lawerence Gap) The Steak house - St. Lawerence Gap For more local Bajan fare - Oistins and Brown Sugar ( both on South coast) Then for the best causal baguette sandwiches - ( The Orange Street Grocer - Speightstown , west coast. It's hard to describe places to avoid, overall its good to exercise the same caution in personal safety you would other parts of the world. Have a great vacation :) . Oh there is also Jet Skiing to enjoy as well |
