Bahamas in January?

How is the weather in the Bahamas in January? My husband and I, and another couple would like to get away for a long weekend. We're just looking for a quick beach trip to get away and relax. Would this be a good spot or would we be better of somewhere else? Needs to be fairly inexpensive, if possible. Thanks for the help!

The weather will probably be nice in January. However, if you are going for only a few days, you should be aware that sometimes cold fronts come through and you can get a few days of "non-beach" weather.

January can be a bit chilly in the Bahamas. Warm enough to sit on the beach but maybe not enough to swim and you may need a light jacket/sweater for the evenings. To guarantee beach weather I would suggest you go to the Caribbean instead. Budget destination would be Jamaica, DR and Cancun.

I would agree Bahamas may not as warm as you are seeking. I assume you are flying from the East Coast. I would try for an extra day, if possible, and go to Cancun, or Punta Cana. Direct flights to DR are fairly short. A 3 or 4day package is pretty reasonable. You will be assured of warmer weather. Also Playa Del Carmen in Mexico is also another possibility.

Thanks for the help! Sounds like Mexico is where I need to go. Thanks again for the advice.
