karen..do a search for my screen name and you'll see a trip report i filed in october for westin at our lucaya.
i'm also interested in an answer to your question because we're thinking of going to nassau in february for a few days.
fyi, i did do a search online and found temps around 75/66 for month of february in bahamas, but not sure how accurate that is.

thank you for your report...it was very helpful and makes me a little more comfortable....Since you are planning on going to Nassau which part of the island is nicer or do you not have a preference. I was also looking into the Wyndham Resort and Casino in Nassau but read some posts that people didn't like the hotel...any thoughts?

hey karen..yes i researched nassau and looked into the wyndham. yes! lots of negative reviews.
the radisson cable beach hotel seems a good choice with a fair price tag.
compass point is another place that i've read good things about, but it's a bit more expensive and 20 minutes away from downtown nassau.

I spent a week in the Bahamas in March of 2002, spent 5 out of 7 days wearing a sweatshirt. Remember that the Bahamas have similar weather to south Florida and it's somewhat chancy before mid to late April.
That said, you still have a MUCH better chance of good weather in the Bahamas in February than I do here in NY in February.
Have fun!

We've been going to GBI in February for 18 years (and to Cable Beach in February for the four years before that). Temps usually run 75-low 80s. Water temps in the low to mid 70s. Those water temps are cold for some folks, but for we New Englanders those kinds of ocean temperatures are approaching, or breaking, all time records. You CAN hit a cool spell and you probably would want a jacket or light sweater for evenings. However, in all those years we've only hit weather for more than one day that could be considered downright chilly during the day, and those days were rare. We also play golf 7 times during our 8 day visits and in all those years have been rained out of golf twice (and two other times only got 9 holes in). Our Lucaya is an immaculately maintained and beautiful resort on GBI. New casino too, which just opened 15 December. I highly recommend it, but I'm prejudiced since we've been staying there since it opened. You can see hundreds of photos of GBI, including dozens from our February trips from the past three years, on my amateur web site at www.fortunecity.com/oasis/bahia/443/index.htm Those photos should give you a decent idea of what weather is like there in February. Hope this helps a little.

I have been in Freeport in February and although it was too chilly to sit on the beach or go in the water, I was fine sitting in a bathing suit by the pool--but then I'm somewhat of a sun worshipper. Definitely bring a sweater or two for the evening. As a previous poster said, the weather is similar to South Florida.

I just got back from the Sheraton at Our Lucaya and the hotel is right next to and connected with pathways to the Westin. They both are impressive hotels, but as to the weather, February would be to cold for me. Go further south. The water temp on Jan 01 was 71 degrees and only a few, including myself, were in the water. The sun was hot, but the wind kept it cool. It really isn't any different than being in Ft. Lauderdale. Have fun wherever you end up.

I have found this website to be very accurate and very helpful: www.weatherunderground.com

The weather for the next few days in Nassau looks cool low of 50 high of 73, which is the norm until mid to late March or so. The water temp is too cold to swim in...well for me anyway. To really escape the winter cold you have to go further south as stated by posters above.

we were there for new year's. the weather was beautiful and an average of 75 degrees during the day and 65 at night. we swam in the ocean and had cocktails in the swim up bar; however, it's pretty chilly in the water. the westin was great. i definitely recommend it. This is the only place i recommend to stay in freeport. oh, and don't worry about an ocean view b/c the other side of the hotel looks out onto the bay and it is quite nice. hope this has helped
