OOOps...my post is a bit confusing. At Fathoms the seafood tower price is $75.00 - just for the tower. Its not really a tower anymore, just a huge platter of cold seafood on ice. And it is covered on the plan, it counts as 2 appetizers.

Well yes, I would agree with SandyFeet that if you intend to order the most expensive items on the menu all the time (and the seafood tower is by far the most expensive appetizer), then the meal plan is for you. I guess that's an advantage of having the meal plan - allows you to order items that you might not otherwise order.

My experience when I was there for three days eating dinner at Fathoms, Villa D'Este and the Chinese restaurant, was that the meal plan would not have been cost-effective for me.

We ate VERY nice, gourmet dinners at the better restaurants at Atlantis. We do not always want an appetizer, entree and dessert. If you are going to eat a three course meal every night, then get the meal plan. I'll say it again. It cost us MUCH less for food WITHOUT the gourmet meal plan. .

Just got back from Atlantis!! And we absolutely loved it. I was very hesitant due to all the bad reviews, but it was really an incredible place. Beautiful hotel (we stayed at the Royal Towers), nice people, good customer service, pretty good food. There were a lot of kids, but that did not bother us much. Lots of romantic spots at night. Overall, it was a great 3 days and I would definitely recommend Atlantis to those who have never been!

I am so glad to have found this thread...Sandy is such a godsend to those of us who are not only trying to plan a wedding (cap,fs nevis, peter island)but a family trip to Atlantis as well.I dont think I would normally consider Atlantis but I have promised my daughter we could visit this home of the infamous "Mary-Kate and Ashley Holiday in the Sun"movie. We were originally considering Spring Break but after reading this post I am starting to reconsider.Would this time (third week in March)be my worst nightmare???When is the best time to go and take kids??Would 3 full days be enough??Thanks to anyone who feels my pain.lol

Since I went for 3 days (Labor day weekend)and this is supposed to be slow season, I don't think I would recommend going during Spring Break time....This weekend was pretty busy, but not so bad that you wished you never came. I think 3 days is perfect (if you live on the east coast and the flight won't be too long). I think you and your kids will enjoy the trip because there is plenty for the kids and adults.

Thank You Blair

Thanks for enjoying my posts...I appreciate that.
IMHO, I would go to Atlantis AFTER spring break/easter recess. Words cannot describe how terrible it was and how disappointed you and your daughter will be. I find May to be the nicest time (and the prices are lower and the water warmer). If you can go while the kids are still in school it would be great. When we went by accident during spring break (we don't have kids so we wouldn't know) there was a shortage of pool chairs and beach chairs and l-o-n-g lines for the pool slides and the food was awful and the resort was dirty. Don't forget the neighboring hotel guests use Atlantis, too so over crowded is an understatement.
Three nights/4 days is plenty of time, even though Atlantis is big, it looks a lot bigger and more intimidating on paper. You and your daughter will have a great time. I would recommend staying in the Coral Towers as the price is moderate and you have a great view of everything and all rooms have balconies. You are centrally located, right in the middle of everything and will save lots of time schlepping around.
The difference between spring break time and after was unbelieveable. The resort had a completely different vibe and was so much more enjoyable. We really did feel like we were in a different place than the year before. The staff was helpful and happy, the service and food was so much better the resort was cleaner.
I have found the best place to be when every one is on vacation to be home! That's where you will find us every holiday as we don't want to pay higher prices for less service, crowds and sub par food. We don't even go to the Hamptons or Montauk until mid September!

Worried - glad to hear that you had a good time. I was there also and had a good time, although there were more kids than I anticipated. It did get a little annoying but it certainly didn't ruin my trip. I can't imagine what it would be like for spring break!

I think the weather is ok but the ocean is a bit cool that time of year. You can try looking at this site www.weatherunderground.com as they have historical temps. To get the real warm water you have to go further south.
