Bahamas
Hi..
Just returned from 2 weeks in the Bahamas. We spent 1 week on Elbow Cay and 1 week on Eleuthera. Elbow Cay was wonderful! We flew from Nassau to Marsh Harbour in Abaco and then a short ferry ride to Elbow Cay. We rented a house for the week and a boat to check out the other cays...beautiful! The harbor was filled with sailboats. The island is very laid back with a few good restaurants. A great place to vacation if you are not looking to be entertained. Just bring some books, snorkeling equipment and a camera and enjoy! Definitely would visit again soon.
The second week we rented another house called Baycienda ( www.Baycienda.com) or you can go through www.Saands.com and speak to Ann...very helpful!). The house rental came with a car and a boat. Its a great place for a big family. The only drawback is the road getting to the main road...very rough!! We didn't love the island of Eleuthera. We didn't find it as pretty as other islands we have visited. But having a boat and staying at Baycienda, we were only 10 minutes from Harbour Island so we spent alot of time on this charming island. The island is bustling with activity and you can rent a golf cart and check out all the great bars, restaurants and the incredible beach..a great vacation island! Also check out Spanish Wells which is a 5 minute ferry ride from North Eleuthera. Its only a mile long but seems like a different world...very unique island.
We had to stay in Nassau our last night because of our flight schedule. We stayed at the Atlantis because we wanted to check it out. After being on the other islands, it was way too busy for us! The marine life is definitely worth seeing as is the whole place but would not stay there for a week. We found it very expensive and thought Paradise Island to be a concrete jungle. Not our idea of vacation. Probably great for families...lots of entertainment provided.
Any questions, please ask.
