back from Half Moon Jamaica, questions?
 

Just returned from Half Moon Bay resort in Jamaica, anyone have any questions?

I actually have a few questions. We have plans to go to half moon in March. What type of room did you stay in and how was it? Did you eat at only the restaurants on the property or did you go off the property? How were they? How was the beach? We are taking a 3 year old so if you have any comments on the children's facilities that would be great. We can also stay at the Ritz Carlton at that time. Did you see that resort? Any information would be greatly appreciated. If you golf, my husband would love infromation on the course there. Thanks.

To begin, the trip was fantastic (second visit here)! Now to your questions. We originally had reserved a junior suite, had sweet talked Jackie the resverations supervisor a couple of times before going. When we arrived they escorted us to VIP resverations and upgraded us to an Imperial Suite (100A), suite was unbelievable. The bellman even gasped when he lead us into the suite. For the most part ate at the resorts restaurants, food was wonderful. One night we did go the Town House in MB, they will send a car for you, food was fab. The beach is very nice, clean and not crowded. Can't shed much light on children facilities, however quite a few couples with kids and they seem to be having great fun. We did wander over to the Ritz, not impressed. Beach was tiny and crowded. Very busy around the pool also. Had the feeling that while on the property that you could of been anywhere, very vanilla feel to the property not at all jamiacian. Golf - the HM course is built at the base of the mountains so it is relatively flat and fairly wide open, which is typical of many carribean courses, played it 4 or 5 times and still enjoyed it. If you do ask for Nick as a caddy, does a wonderful job. The Ritz's course is built up and down the mountain, very dramatic, would highly recommend. Only complaint on their course is they have mounded it to reward a bad shot, guess it is to keep play moving. If you have additional questions, let me know. As I started with we had 10 fabulous days there and will go back again.

a little more info on the restaurants, would not bother with the japanese place, Seagrape, Il Giardino were quite good, our favorite was Sugar Mill for dinner, and I hate to admit it but we are somewhat of food snobs. And to put the whole trip in perspective, we usually vacation at Four Season properties.<BR><BR>Kick it mon!

Your information was very helpful. I think we have the same thoughts about food and hotels. Great upgrade. We too are reserved in a junior suite, but hoping for an upgrade. Did you take any meal plan? They didn't look like such a great deal and I like to be able to go out if I want. I'm glad to hear you liked the food and that you are particular. I have heard similar comments about the ritz. Thanks for the golf info. I think my husband will want to play half moon and white witch and if he has time, Tryall. Do you know how the spa is at half moon? I would like to spend some time there. Thanks again for your help.

Bought the whole package at auction on luxurylink.com, so it included the meal plan. If not on the meal plan food can be somewhat expensive, ie. breakfast buffet $26 US but you can also order off the menu. I also believe most entrees were in the $20+ at dinner, but since we were not paying did not really pay attention. Wife used the spa 4 or 5 times and raved about it. Ask for Carmen the masseuse. Do have a wonderful time.
