Availability for NY ???

4 adults just learned that we are able to travel over NY holiday. Looking for a nice location on the beach, preferably a resort, where we can relax. Most everything I can think of is booked -- I'm not at all surprised. Thought I might get some recommendations from all of you. We do love Anguilla, St. Barts, Barbados, Antigua, but would be happy trying something new. Thanks for suggestions. I know this is late to plan for that time of year, but just thought I'd ask.

What's your nightly price range? And can you plan to stay at least 7 nights, the typical minimum (if not higher) for that time of year?

Yes, we can stay 7 nights. We are not locked into any particular price range. We understand that this time of the year will be quite expensive.

my best suggestion is to get on expedia. put in your airport and dates and start entering islands. i just did a quick look and jamaica still has lots of rooms, barbados has some, antigua not many, etc. and obviously the seats are available on planes - but i was using boston and 12/29 to 1/5.
or ask nicely at your local travel agent and do not get upset when they laugh at first.

I agree, check with a local travel agent ASAP, since most of the well known resorts are going to be long ago booked.

Have you tried www.libertytravel.com you can often get good package deals there for last minute travel.

If you would consider Harbour Island in the Bahamas, since you like St. Barth, you might try some of these websites.

www.romorabay.com
www.coralsands.com
www.rockhousebahamas.com

There's also Runaway Hill, Pink Sands (www.islandoutpost.com), Dunsmore Beach and Baretta's all on the beach.

Good luck with your trip.

Thanks for the replies. We were fortunate to have been contacted by Carimar in Anguilla, as they had one 2 bedroom condo that came available. Travelbuff2 - thanks so much for the info on Harbor Island. That is an area we are not at all familiar with, but the sites you gave me were very interesting and I have bookmarked them for future reference. This definitely looks like something we would enjoy!
