Atlantis v. Radisson Cable Beach

It seems people either love or hate these two places. We are going in late April - my husband is voting for Atlantis but too me it looks like Las Vegas (no that is not a positive to me)and doesn't seem worth the money. I have read several reports about poor service at Atlantis which, given the expense, is unacceptable to me. The Radisson seems reasonably priced and has a nice beach.

Given that we want a relaxing and fun vacation, love to snorkle, love good food, have no children and are in our early 30s - which resort would you recommend? Or perhaps something else?

Thanks!
Andrea

I have stayed at both places and enjoyed both. I have gone back to the Atlantis more often than the Radisson. We just love the grounds at the Atlantis. Each time we walk around we notice something different. The Dig and the aquariums are spectacular. If you do choose the Radisson, at least go over to Paradise Island and visit the Atlantis. It's a sight to behold. Both places have a great beach and good food nearby. If you choose the Rasisson, eat at Johnny Canoe's right in front of the Nassau Beach Hotel.

Andrea, how about a third option, Compas Point, which is beautiful, great food, a bit out of the way so a little smaller and beautiful views of the water. Try the website for more info www.compaspoint.com

You also might want to go over to Harbour Island and there are several nice places to stay there as well try www.briland.com for more info on hotels, diving, snorkle trips and history of the island.

Have a great time.

I agree with Tweety on Compass Point. We have stayed there 3 times and LOVE it. You can snorkle right off their beach. They have super food, great views and no maddening crowds. You can always take a cab or a jittney into town to visit Atlantis or shop. Have fun!

Does anyone know how to get a deal on the Atlantis rooms? I have been searching for discounted rates (and other than for travel til january), they don't seem to exist. Help!

Andrea, you are right on the money about Atlantis. Just saw it for the first time, very ostentatious, reminded me exactly of all the Las Vegas monstrosities. Some people love that. Listen to Tweedy, she's very knowledgeable about the Bahamas!

Tanya,
You can sometimes get a good rate if you book a package deal. We have gotten good prices for Atlantis through Liberty Travel Agency. They have offices is several cities. If there is one near you, see if they are offering any packages to ATlantis.
