Atlantis Resort
My husband and I, are taking our 10 year old son to Atlantis for the first time in July. I would like to hear from others, some of the fun things to do. Also would like to hear comments on the Atlantis Resorts restaurant's. We like to have nice dinners. If there are some really good place to dine, in or near the resort. I would like info on them as well.
Thanks, CJ

Greycliff - I think it is called. It is an old mansion that is now a hotel and has a 5* restaurant.

Your son will love it and so will you. THere are many pools, water slides, the lazy river ride, and don't forget the beach. There are several wonderful restaurants at Atlantis. Our favorites are Villa D'Este, Fathoms, and the Bahamian Club.
They are all on the expensive side. In Fathoms and the Great Hall of Waters you can watch the aquariums as you eat.If you want more casual less expensive food you can eat at the Deli, the Atlas Grille, or go across the street to Anthony's Caribbean Grille.
Have a great time.

My husband and our 3 y.o. twins just returned from Atlantis. Some feedback for you - it is a great place, if a little overwhelming at first. Make sure to get a map as soon as you get there - you need one. The activities are perfect for a 10 y.o. - most slides have a 48'' min height. The food is fabulous but your son needs to be prepared for a leisurely 2 - 2 1/2 hr dining experience. If you like fine food I strongly recommend the dining plan. Most people don't know about it - you need to book it from the US at least 2 weeks before arrival. It cost $55 for basic and $79 gourmet p/pers p/day, includes breakfast and dinner (soup/salad AND appetizer AND dessert AND soft drink). The best places are Fathoms and Bahamian Club. Five Twins is outstanding and they give $65 credit if you have the meal plan which is enough. Be sure to call ahead and make reservations at these places a few weeks before arrival - they are usually booked. The Great Hall of Waters is the most beautiful place to eat and pretty good too. Watch the weather - if it is a calm day go to the beach because it is often windy and those are definitely pool days. Note to parents of young kids - try to eat at buffet restaurants, the nice ones are definitely too leisurely for anyone under 5. Good luck and enjoy

Have ben to Atlantis four times and spent MUCH less money without the meal plan. WE ate WAY too much when we had the plan. Without it we ate a small breakfast at one of the shops in Hurricane Hole SHopping Center, nice lunch at Lagoon Bar or the Cave, and then a very nice dinner. WE spent MUCH less that $75 a day per person.

We made out better with the meal plan. If you like to eat a salad/app entree & dessert at dinner than the meal plan is worth it. The gourmet plan as Ilana mentioned is the way to go as you mentioned you want "nice dinners". Enjoy and your son should love it!
