Atlantis/Paradise Island/Nassau Eating

We are a group of 8 adults and 2 children (age 2 and 7 mos.) heading to the Atlantis in August to celebrate my parents' anniversary. We have pretty much picked out a couple of places to have some special dinners, but are looking for places to have some more laid back, fun, but good meals. Price isn't necessarily a concern...just looking for good food in a good atmosphere (again: not too stuffy or formal). Which Atlantis restaurants would you most recommend? We're also willing (even eager) to leave Atlantis a couple nights and explore something else on paradise Island or even Nassau if it is relatively easy to get to...Thanks for your help

I'm leaving in 2 weeks to Atlantis. I just made reservations at nobu for fathers day. I heard poop deck is pretty cool. Looking forward to that. Really good seafood. I'm going for a wedding so they're having a dinner for the bride and groom at breezes. I stayed at Atlantis when I was 22 and didnt really eat anywhere but at Atlantis. Went to the straw market. Also a booze cruise doubt you'd like that. I went out at night don't remember anything too exciting. But browse the forum they'll have better advice. Have fun.

Poop Deck is very cool, much more casual than anything at Atlantis, nice setting.

Closer to Comfort Suites (depending at which section of Atlantis you're staying you can take the shuttle) is Anthonys bar and grill. Very colorful, much more economical, much better food and bigger portions than anything in Atlantis.

For a splurge Bobby Flays s really good.

There is also a marina section with many shops, restaurants including Johnny Rockets, and some upscale choices, and an ice cream shop

Okay, so here's a suggestion out of left field, but one that I'm sure that you'll like. We just got back from Atlantis last night after staying at The Reef for 7 nights. We ate at all of the "on property" places, and in particular really liked Mesa Grill (try the Crab Bisque, yummy!).

On two nights I wanted to go off-property and find a fun place with views and a place where I could watch the NBA Finals. We heard of a bar/restaurant from a taxi driver which was at the base of the bridge on the Paradise Island side at the Hurricane Hole Marina called The Green Parrot.

So, when you arrive at this place your initial reaction is a dive bar on the harbor with a view....and a pool right in the middle of the place that seems quite out of place. This is actually the central area of activity for the Hurricane Hole Marina and there is a mixture of locals and ship crews that are just hanging out and having some drinks and dinner.

What surprised us was the food was pretty darn good, especially the smokey pulled pork sandwiches and the Philly Cheesesteak. There are lots of items on the menu to choose from and my foodie wife was really happy with the food. The view is absolutely stunning with ships moving in and out of the harbor and I'd definitely recommend having any kids (or adults for that matter) who want to swim in the pool to bring there suits.

Again, looks are deceiving, but if you want something which is the opposite of the high prices and surreal decor of the Atlantis property, this is a good option.
