Atlantis in October
Just wondering if its worth going this late in the year. We would be going to Atlantis the weekend of October 22. Is the water still warm? How's the weather? For comparison, we usually vacation on Florida's Gulf Coast, usually Sanibel or Captiva. We had to cancel those plans this year due to Isaac, and now we are looking for a reschedule. Thanks.

Yes, water will still be warm in October. day time temps will be in the low to mid-80's F.
You can research historical weather data for Nassau, Bahamas (where Atlantis is located) here: http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/w...au-The-Bahamas |
I'm not sure if you know or if you even care, but the Atlantis gets some of the worst reviews of basically any other resort out there. If you are not that familar with it, do some research.
The months of August, September and October are typically prime season for hurricanes. If you do book, get the trip/hurricane insurance in which you can cancel for any reason and not just if your hotel closes or your flight is cancelled. It costs more, but it is worth it. |
Thanks everyone! The reviews on Trip Advisor, and there are a lot of them, seem to be hit or miss. I think taking a chance on your travel is part of the experience, and we could do a lot worse than a long weekend in the Bahamas! We will definitely be buying the travel insurance. We were nearly rained out of last year's vacation, but this is the best time for us to go.
