Atlantis Hotel or Grand Cay Beaches hotel with kids??

Trying to choose our next family vacation. Kids age 9 and up, several families together looking for great food, drinks, activities and snorkeling.... love all-inclusive but is Atlantis more worthwhile with all the property attractions??? Heard Grand Cayman was great with the sting ray city etc... nice beaches. Have been to Bahamas, wasnt too impressed with the beach. Anyone been to Atlantis. Whats the cost of food, sodas for kids, is there any way to get all-inc there???

Was on Nassau last April and would recommend the radisson- less pricey than the Atlantis, and very kid friendly. Lots to do, renting small sailboats and snorkel equip for free, pool tables and other activities, plus the kids camp club. Atlantis is more like Disneyworld- amazing though pricey.

We've been to the Atlantis and Grand Cayman with our 12 year old. We enjoyed both vacations very much, but they were very different. The trip to GC was more laid back, the Atlantis is more intense. We took the meal plan at the Atlantis, in GC we ate at all the wonderful restaurants and did alot of exploring. At the Atlantis, we mainly stayed at the hotel. My son loved the water slides at the Atlantis, and he loved Stingray City in GC. If you would like more info feel free to email me.

Atlantis is beautiful but it is a fortune of money. Think US$12 dollar chicken sandwiches and $5 fries -- and those are cheap compared to the other restaurants. If you weren't impressed with the beaches in the Bahamas why would you go to Paradise Island, Bahamas to go to Atlantis? I would recommend the Marriott Crystal Palace in Nassau -- its a nice resort (considered the #2 resort in the Bahamas) and there's also a lot for the kids to do

Atlantis has a very nice beach & excellent pools & waterslides. We took our 2 children & they had a great time.
It is expensive, but I didn't ever feel that I was being overcharged for anything. Resorts will have resort prices. Just know this going in & you will enjoy yourself. If budget is an issue though, Atlantis may not be a good choice.

Have been to Atlantis three times. I don't know why people exaggerate so much about the price of food. A chicken sandwich or burger is $6.50--just like any other resort. The place is magnificent. Every time you walk around you see something new. Your children and you will love the aquariums and the Dig. They will also love the water slides and all the pools. The beach is very nice too. We love it and will return again and again.

I just returned from the Atlantis and I have to disagree with the other posters who claim that the resort is not overpriced. Keep in mind that my husband and I frequently dine in NYC and Philadelphia, so we are used to great food at expensive prices. However, we still found the food at the Atlantis to be way overpriced for the quality. We ate at the gourmet restaurants (classified by Atlantis: $$$$) and entrees ranged from $30-$50. Appetizers were $15-$20. My husband's entree was 49.00 and not even that good. Now, these prices would have been easier to stomach if the food quality matched the price. It didn't. The food was decent, but NOT worth those prices. A Can of coke is 2.50, Gatorade 4.00. The Atlantis is very impressive, beautiful, and fun for children, but be warned: It is pricey.

We stayed at Atlantis in Nov. 2 years ago and it sounds like it's gotten more expensive. There are other less expensive places on Paradise Island to eat and we only ate one dinner at the hotel. Be careful with the "run of the house" rooms though. Ours looked out over the roof of the casino and the hotel wouldn't change it without a big additional charge. If you want oceanview, make sure you book that way. They did have a meal plan you can buy as I recall. If you can afford it, the kids will love it.
I stayed at Atlantis Aug 2000 on my honeymoon...We loved it...Lots and lots of kids there...Keep in mind there is a great deal of day activities..but 6:00pm all outdoor activites close and aside of fine dining and Casino..there is not much to do.. ( that was fine for us but I've heard mixed feelings) Yes food can be expensive...thats because it is imported from the states..My suggestion is to bring lots of snacks..the Atlantis property has so much to offer we had not need to leave except when we did the dolphin encounter..That was wonderful!!!!!
We would got back in a heart beat!! It was a wonderful experience..
