Atlantis - Questions from a first time cruiser.

Once at Atlantis can the general public use the beach? or Should one buy the shore excursion from the Cruise ship that gives you access to a part of the beach at Atlantis? Any chance of getting into the pool or slides?

You can get on the beach, but you can not use the pool or slides unless you are staying there or the Comfort Suites. If you are staying at either of the hotels, you go to the little "towel cabanas" and show your room ID and the give you a bracelet which gives you full use of all the facilities. Some cruise passengers book a room at the Comfort Suites for the day (do it way in advance) and use all the facilities at Atlantis and have a place to go clean up and relax. Depending on the cost of the ship's excursion (per person), it might actually be less expensive to get the room at the Comfort Suites. The Atlantis in incredible. The grounds and the aquariums are a sight to behold.

We will have the day off the cruise ship, and would like to spend it with friends staying at Atlantis. I take it there is no problem accessing the beach, casino, aquarium, "Dig," and restaurants. However, can we accompany our friends - who are guests there - to the pool areas that have the slides?

You have to have the "ID" bracelet to use the slides. You can try to use your friends room key to get a bracelet at the towel shack. The also sometimes check for bracelets to enter the Dig.
