Thanks for the trip report. My husband and I will be in Aruba 16 June -23rd. I would like to try some different restaurants. This is our 4th trip to Aruba. I love it there. I am counting the days. I think I shall try the Screaming Eagle you mention. We have never been there have you ever been to Matthews? I want to try Bugalo as well looks like a great relaxing place. Can't wait. I hope we have good weather. We were there last in Dec. before the holidays and itwas a bit rainy. Still not constant but more than I would have liked. Thanks.

Yes, we've been to Matthew's many times. It's a nice, casual place with good food. Definitely take a look at the menus on various restaurant websites - then you can get an idea if you would like their food. The Bugaloe is fun during the afternoon for lunch/drinks and also in the early evening when they have live music on certain nights - it's just a fun "flip flops and shorts" kind of a place.
We're headed back again in Sept. Enjoy your trip!!! |
Hi Amy. I enjoyed your trip report. It sounds like you had a fun time. I've been off the board for a while. I just finished a long overdue trip report for Aruba. It really is a great island.
|
Thumbs up Amy!
Although we have never hired a car on Aruba the public transport is just too much fun, you meet the nicest people on the buses. :) |
Thanks, everyone! And yes, I agree - love the public transport in Aruba. We used to use it many years ago on our first few trips to Aruba. But now we like to visit local friends on the island in the evening so it's easier for us to have a rental car.
We are headed back again for 2 weeks in Sept. |
Hello, Amy:
Thanks for your great trip report! Do you know if AM has 2 BR suites? If so, are they beachfront? What are your "Top 5" restaurants in Aruba? OB1 |
Are you in Aruba now? You said you were going back for 2 weeks in Sept.
|
Aruba Amy rarely frequents this board. Mainly to just post her trip reports.
You can find her and more informtion about Aruba on the forums on Trip Advisor, http://www.aruba-travelguide.com/bulletinboard/ and http://www.aruba-bb.com/ |
Thanks, KVR!

Hi OB1 -
Just returned from Aruba last Saturday - we were there from 9/2 - 9/15 and stayed at Amsterdam Manor again. Yes, Amsterdam Manor has 2 bedroom/2 bath suites. They are all located on the 2nd floor and all face the beach. Some have better views than others - just depends on if the palm trees block your view a bit. Here is their website that shows the room categories: http://www.amsterdammanor.com/hotel_...ategories.html Top Five restaurants - that's a hard one because we like both casual and higher end. Higher end restaurants: Passions, Screaming Eagle, Open Home & Kitchen, Carte Blanche, 2 Fools And A Bull, and White Modern Cuisine Casual restaurants: Bingo, Wacky Wahoo, Barney's, Amadeus, and Tulip |
Thanks, Amy!
How was the weather? |
Though Amy is the expert for Aruba. I found September to be perfect weather wise. Tropical storms having been hitting in December the past few years.
|
We were there for 2 weeks - hot, sunny, and breezy every day. Had one 15 minute sprinkle one night around 7:30pm and another 3 minute srpinkle one morning while it was still sunny out and a rainbow followed.
We normally travel to Aruba in late April/early May and again in Sept. for a couple of weeks. Out of all of our trips (just returned from trip #27) we've only had one "wash out" and that was Sept. 2010 which was an unusually rainy year for Aruba. |
And, we had a lot of rain.....torrential downpours.... last February, again unusual for Aruba. It was so bad that even the taxis would not go out!
