Aruba: Travellers' Cheques?
We are going to Aruba in January. We don't want to carry a lot of cash so we are wondering if taxis, grocery stores, wine/beer
stores will accept US Travellers' cheques. Can you buy wine in the corner stores/groceries stores in Aruba? For restaurants we will
use our credit card. Thanks!
Grocery stores and taxis do not accept travellers checks and not all stores on the island do accept travellers checks. I suggest you have a credit card a few travellers checks if you are comfortable witht them a few 20 dollar bills.

Hi John,
not all places accept TC but you can exchange them at the local banks and they do aplly some fee for changing them and credit cards will do just fine at restaurants.

It's been a few years since we've been to Aruba. But I recall that we took travellers cheques and cashed them in the casino in the hotel as we needed cash. No service charge, no problems. I guess they figure you're going to lose your money there! Have fun. They have great restaurants, i.e. don't do an all-inclusive.

We just got back from staying at the Radisson in Aruba and I know that at that hotel you could cash your Travelers Checks in at their store. We had some cash but all of the places we went to accepted the checks. We had no problems at all. A lot of the hotels have little stores that you can buy wine/beer at too.

Jenn, Apologies for going off this subject thread, but can you tell me your opinion of the Radisson please.
My wife and I are going there next year.

thanks
