Aruba/topless question?

Hello,
We are thinking of a family trip to Aruba next year, with teenagers. Have been there once before, 1998. What I do not recall is topless sunbathing. Please, all those in favor of topless, try not to judge our personal desire to not vacation in spots where this is accepted, especially with teenages along. Just read a recent post about this and am seeking more info from recent travelers experiences. We surely can figure other choices, and do not recall this from a previous trip. Any info( not criticism) is really appreciated. Thank you.

Well they do it so if that is an issue then perhaps you should look elsewhere. After all Aruba gets many European tourists and topless is the norm for many of them. What about Hawaii or other Carib. destinations? Puerto Rico may be a good option and as I recall Jamaica family resorts are not topless.

We've been to Aruba three times staying at two different resorts and all times have seen topless sunbathing on the beaches (never the pool area) - tastefully done - but topless nonetheless. I have a teen daughter and honestly, it's no big deal for us but to each his own. Good luck with your research.

We were in Grenada in Janaury and didn't see any topless sunbathers on Grand Anse beach. Nice place to vacation, lots to see, nice little town. Good food. No high rises.

Faith, although I have seen topless in Barbados, it's not been often and the local culture, which is very conservative, finds topless offensive. This is the case in most of the former British colonies.

As a rule of thumb, former French colonies are more accepting.

We have been to Anguilla several times and never saw any toplessness there. Generally, if you don't want to see any topless I would avoid the Dutch- or French-influenced islands, such as Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, St. Martin/St. Maarten, Guadeloupe, Martinique.
Hope this helps.

Highly doubtful you'd see topless in Grand Cayman. But if you really enjoyed Aruba, don't let a couple boobs ruin your trip. It's not like teenagers have never seen a breast....
If the kids can't handle seeing a boob, I'm guessing there are larger issues at stake. Can't keep them in a glass bubble (with the shades drawn) forever....

Sorry, not trying to judge, just having a hard time understanding what the big deal is about a boob? I guess I'd understand more if people were actually having sex on the beach or something, but it's just a boob!! You're not in Kansas anymore Dorothy.

Hello,
Thanks for all the helpful replys. Obviously missed the boat on this issue when we were there in 1998. Like I said in my previous post, we can figure other destinations, no problem. I was wanting to confirm something I did not remember, that is all. Scott, if you haven't figured out we all have different feelings, opinions, and ways of living, I feel sorry for you. Thanks to those who wanted to just simply answer the question if it is accepted in Aruba. Those that keep this post going are just bored, for me it is on to bigger and better things in life---like being at cap juluca in a couple weeks!!
