Aruba Restaurants

What are the top restaurants in Aruba?

Papiamento
Le Dome
La Trattoria el Foro Blanco
Ventanas del Mar
Ruinas del Mar
Cafe Japengo

Are there any amazing one's that I'm missing?

El Gaucho serves the most amazing steaks and white wine sangria. Also Madame Jenrette (sp??) is famous for great cuisine. See www.aruba-bb.com for more info.

Chez Mathilde is the finest dining on Aruba.

randq Feb 11th, 2002 09:09 AM

Chez Mathilde is great! Try Tejas de Brazil in the high rise hotel zone. It's a great Brazilian steakhouse. My last experience there was better than El Gaucho (which is also excellent!).

also, the dining at Tierra Del Sol GOlf course was the best for us. Elegant dining, brass music and exquisite food and service. The others we tried were El Goucho(also very nice) and the Italian place across from the Marriott, excellent, Swiss Chalet just okay, and the Le Petite Cafe which serves your meal on a hot rock was cool!!!

Nancy, What is the name of the Italian Restaurant across from the Marriott? Do you mean Hostaria da Vittorio?

I really loved El Gaucho (we still talk about it 2 years later) and Three Little Birds. The latter was recommended to us by someone - I don't think it's very well known. It is outside, on a rooftop downtown, and has delicious food.

Bud Feb 19th, 2002 12:29 PM

Three Little Birds has closed. Madame Janette's was the best I have had in Aruba. Also, the Sunset Grille at the Radisson is very nice. Didn't care for El Gaucho.

Is the Canouco House (? spelling)
still open?

melissa Feb 19th, 2002 04:17 PM

Had dinner at the Flying Fishbone July 3rd, 2001 (20th Anniversary). Tables right on the beach, in fact we sat only inches from the waters edge. There's maybe 20 tables available. The service was great, food was great and the setting could not be beat!

It's a trick question. There ARE NOT 10 good places to eat in all of the Caribbean!

They still eat dog there? I hear parrot is quite nice. Especially free range parrot.

Susan Feb 19th, 2002 06:09 PM

Aruba has many good restaurants, however, Madame Janette's is the best in my book. Runner-up is Sunset Grille at the Raddison.

Not 10 in the Caribbean? Hard to find great on Aruba but surely you troll?

Bud Feb 20th, 2002 10:25 AM

The Cunucu House has re-opened under new ownership.

Bud Feb 20th, 2002 10:26 AM

Three Little Birds has closed.

d Feb 20th, 2002 01:05 PM

Oh no! The Three Little Birds closed?
What happen? They run out of "jerk rat"?

I have heard great things about many mentioned...no personal experience though...also heard many good reports about Que Pasa, Tabaskos,Pago Pago and of course El Gaucho...

Bud Feb 23rd, 2002 06:45 AM

Ate at El Gaucho. Was very disappointed. Very noisy and cramped inside. Steak was not anything special. Madame Janette's was the best on our trip, followed by the Sunset Grille and the French Steak House. Also, found Chalet Suisse very ordinary, nothing special.
