Aruba or Puerto Vallarta for daughter's honeymoon???

Ok, I know this is a huge difference, white sands and Caribbean blue with casino's but no real all inclusives vs yellow sand and Pacific blue with the Mountains tossed in, great all inclusives no casino's, but it will be Hurricane season and I'm trying to stay away from the Hurricane belt.

Pro's/con's to both.....

Best hotels in Aruba, are there any AI's, I just like the idea of having all the basics paid for since this is our wedding gift to them.

I already posted on the Mexico board.....

Manchebo Beach resort is on Eagle beach (wider and a lot quieter than Palm Beach) has a 'food plan'.

I haven't stayed there we stayed next door at the Bucuti Beach a wonderful resort that doesn't encorage children and is therefore very quiet and relaxing on the best part of the beach. Perfect for a honeymoon.

We went for my 40th and our 22nd anniversary (same day makes it easy for DH) and totally recommend it.

While I understand that AI will be easier for your DD, there are so many wonderful restaurants on Aruba - all easily accessible by public transport.

Have you thought of checking out the AI's on Aruba and giving your DD the difference in spending money?

This way she can choose where to eat, If that's at the resort - well, so be it!

Alya has a great piont. There really are some nice resraurants in Aruba. I would give them a nice room at one of the hotels and some spending cash for food.

I agree with the above posters. But, if AI is the way you want to go the Divi would be a good choice. Depending on when their honeymoon is, the Occidental Grand will be reopening hopefully early 2006 and AI, and the Aruba Grand has been bought by the RUI chain and have AI.

Check out some of the packages available at www.travelunlimited.com and also note which have buffet breakfasts included if you decide to not do AI.

Why do you want an AI? There are tons of great restaurants in Aruba and it is very easy to drive around. Also - Aruba is very rarely affected by hurricanes.

If Aruba then I agree with Alya and Francot. If this is their honeymoon then it would be cool to sample all the varied and very tasty fare at the fine restaurants there. I think you can get a dine-around pass or card as well or gift them the cash for their dining or maybe give them one of those prepaid credit cards. Very generous of you.
