Aruba or Exuma?
I will be taking my 4 year old son
to either the Radisson in Aruba or Four Seasons Great Exuma in August. I've done research and am familiar with the merits of each. My son is most happy when he is at the beach or in the pool. Personally, I much prefer low rise hotels like Cap Juluca et al but am torn because Aruba may be a better choice for my son. I have never been to a Four Seasons resort and wonder if there is enough to do when we are not in the water in Great Exuma. Also the praise for the Radisson is uniform whereas FS Exuma comments are mixed because the resort is so young. Suggestions? |
It is important to bear in mind that much of the criticism of the Four Seasons stems from the fact that when people pay top dollar for a resort run by what is arguably the top hotel chain in the world, they expect near perfection. And rightfully so.
But almost evry great resort and restaurant has growing pains during their early weeks/months. People who go to Aruba in general, and people who stay at the Radisson in particular, will usually have lower expectations. Aruba has no true luxury hotels, so people don't go there expecting such. I've stayed at 20 or more Four Seasons properties, but not the new one on Exuma, and have visited the Radisson. That's a true apples and oranges comparison, which you obviously appreciate. I would take a FS with growing pains over any Radisson anytime. Your son is not going to care about shopping, nightlife, available variety of restaurants and the other things Exuma lacks. Whether or not he requires a lot of external stimuli to stay occupied only you know. |
Thank you travleis. Has anyone visited Four Seasons Exuma?

Ummm..This isnt really difficult...I would pick a FS over Radisson any day...plus, I find Aruba to be extremely overrated..great food, nice people ..but compared to other islands, thats about it.

There have ben a couple of threads on this site with comments from people who have stayed at Four Seasons Great Exuma. Do a search or on the upper right click on Bahamas and you will probably find them.
