Aruba (help?)

We are thinking about going to Aruba in the fall for our anniversary and need your expertise. Hotels we are considering - Wyndam Resort and Holiday Inn resort & casino? How are these two facilities? Do you recommend them. Also what type of restaurants does Aruba have to offer?
Thanks!

Thanks. We are not adventurous or big seafood eaters. Are there any good restaurants with good chicken dishes. Nothing fancy....

You should pose your questions to a bunch of dedicated Aruba fanatics:

Enjoy!

Look into the Radisson hotel. Wyndham has a lot of kids.

For the best steaks go to El gaucho.

Chicken dishes are not a problem. You'll find chicken on most menus.

We were in Aruba last June for our honeymoon and stayed at the Wyndham. I personally, wasn't that impressed. My husband booked the trip being totally unaware that Aruba isn't really the best place for All inclusive. I was very disappointed in the entire place. If you do stay at the Wyndham, I would not go all inclusive. They have one place for breakfast (outside), one place for lunch (outside), and 3 places for dinner. We ate out several nights.

The beach was unbearable because of the wind, unless you want to be in the middle of a sand storm. Eating outside during the day was quite annoying as well. Service pool side is almost non-existent and the pool isn't very large. They do have a kids club but we didn't see many kids running around.

Overall, I was very disappointed in the service at the Wyndham. We never received any of the extras that one poster suggested. That would have been nice and might have put a better taste in my mouth for Aruba.

I have had several friends that have been to Aruba last year. One couple stayed at the Marriott and absolutely loved it and it wasn't near as windy there as it was at the Wyndham. Also check into the Divi and Occidental Grand (which is next door to the Wyndham and seemed a heck of a lot nicer than the Wyndham)

Of course...this is just my personal experience. I have had several people tell me that they loved Aruba (The friends that went...loved it.) My husband thought it was ok and would consider going back. I don't care to ever go back. And I have heard that about Aruba...you love it or hate. Point is...this is just MY $0.02..take it or leave it!

Good luck with your decision and happy travels with whatever you decide.

PS...El Gaucho is an excellent restaurant. That is one of the things I did love about Aruba! Also, the message baord that another poster suggested is a wealth of information!

Does Aruba have American restaurants like in Hawaii? I don't care for seafood.
