Aruba "Don't Miss List"
 

What are some "Don't miss" attractions or sites in Aruba. Is the Atlantis Sub worth it?

Roger: I'm not into the Atlantis sub, so I don't know about it. <BR> <BR>The "Hoolburg" or haystack mountain is interesting, but not an easy climb on the 500 or so steps. The view is great, though. You can also rent scooters and drive up from Palm Beach to Baby Beach, both on the leeward side. You can visit the lighthouse on the point and also the Casabari rock formation inland. The Natural Bridge can be found by scooter heading over to the windward side and you can see the amazing geological differences on that side which contain volcanic rock while the island does even have one. Take a snorkel trip and a "sunset cruise" on one of the moored catamaran's. Tuesday night has a local arts & crafts festival in Oranjestad. <BR> <BR>I liked strolling from hotel to hotel on Palm Beach, having a swim, drink, etc. and don't miss Charlie's Bar. Have fun!

The food at El Gaucho,((excellent steak and argentinean food)) and the Nacho Cheese dish they have at the Hyatt Hotel snack bar by the beach. Only other advise is to rent a car. My boyfriend and I went last year around the end of september and believe it or not it rained almost everyday...and they say it never rains in Aruba...Anyway I hope this helped have a safe and happy trip.

I was in Aruba 2 years ago and am going back in September. The bat caves were really something. You visit them on the island tour offered by your hotel. I was disappointed in Baby Beach. It was nothing special. <BR>I found the main thing about Aruba was just the fun atmosphere, perfect weather and safety.

Snorkeling at Malmok, parasailing, snorkel cruise, sunset cruise, Kukoo Kunuku bar hopping tour, horseback riding, windsurfing, sailing, deep sea fishing, glass bottom boat, banana boat ride, tube ride....

I think one of the best things about Aruba is the windsurfing. My husband and I learned to windsurf there. There is an incredible school on the beach at Fisherman's Hut in front of the Marriot Hotel. Aruba has consistent wind, warm and shallow water, and soft, white sand beaches.The windsurfing made our trip.

I've traveled to several of the islands, and the one thing that differentiates Aruba from the rest is the WIND! Also, it's a surprisingly arid climate, and the only lush areas are those surrounding the resorts. Twinklebones is a kitshcy type restaurant, but the food was surprisingly good, and the "show" was fun, too. Don't miss the all you can eat fajitas at the Old Cunucuu House restaurant on Saturday night-the price was right and they were some of the best I've had.

2 places you MUST eat- <BR>1- Boonoonoos (expensive but fun) <BR>2- Que Pasa (hard to find but excellent food, reasonable prices, local art on the walls to buy).

I just came back from Aruba and here is my list: <BR>--dinner at Papiamento's (an extremely romantic and beautiful restaurant. You can dine outside amid thousands of white lights and sit around a reflecting pool, or dine inside in a 130-year old plantation house. The food is Caribbean/Eclectic and wonderful.) <BR>--snorkeling with De Palm tours. <BR>--seeing the Natural Bridge. <BR>--hotel hopping along the high-rises. <BR>

For a lovely dinner, be sure to put Chez Mathilde on the dining out list. You might want to rent a car/jeep to "do" the island and explore the interesting terraine especially on the windward side of the island one day.

<BR>The Marrriott Hotel is simply the BEST!! <BR>From food to the service to the magnifficent beach. <BR>Also, snorkeling with DePalm Tours, and Red Sail tours, Jeep rentals, Tube rides, and Waverunners on Eagle beach. <BR>The sunsets are grand and the food is varied and incredible. <BR>Stay away from the 3-4 hour escorted jeep tours though, they are long and very dusty in the convertibles, rent your own covered jeep and tour the island on your own. <BR>Very safe island, and very very friendly. <BR>E-mail me with questions

I totally agree with Chris A. Marriott was fabulous. Also don't miss the Party Bus (Kukukunucu?) bar hopping tour. Had a blast!
