most people I have noticed do not take the time to cneck on a destination they rely on other people views on where to go AS for me I LOVE ARUBA AND I AM GOUNG BACK IN JULY.Sorry you did not have a good time in Aruba I had a great time there in 98 If I could give you any constructive advice go to a web site with the island that you want to check on and look at all the trip reports that will give you a clue as to see what you are looking for in a vacation. as for Aruba being overrated BS It is underatted as far as I am concerned Cancun NOW THAT PLACE IS OVERATED. CHEAPEST PLACE TO GO BUT THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE AND I gurantee you will get Diarehha there so thats all I can tell you.

I also found Aruba and Cancun to be too touristy and overcrowded for my liking! Anyplace that has casinos is not for me! I found both islands to be without the Caribbean feel. Grand Cayman is wonderful for great beaches and snorkeling, but a bit expensive. You can search for moderate accommodations, but no real bargains. To me, it's worth it. The island is very clean and without crime. I would never return to Cancun, but I love Cozumel and Akumal which are closeby. They have great beaches and snorkeling and you can still get a local feel. Negril, Jamaica is also great, although not sure I'd go there with a toddler. Turks & Caicos has great snorkeling, as well and isn't touristy and "plastic" as I found Cancun to be. There's lots of spots in the Caribbean where you can still find a Caribbean experience. I've found if you do your homework, read the message boards and other sources of information, you'll find what interests you. One person's paradise may not be what another person is looking for. Good luck!

Tina:

Why don't you just go on a cruise? In that way, you could go to five ports of call in a week and check out the location, atmosphere and activities at each place and then the following months or year go to that destination. I don't think you will really know what you like unless you see it firsthand.
