Aruba accommodation help (for small family)

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can offer advice regarding accommodation in Aruba.

I am looking to go away this August with my husband & our toddler. We'd like a relaxing, beach vacation, 2 wks in duration. From what I can tell, Aruba is our best bet in terms of Caribbean weather at that time of year. We are debating whether a hotel or an apartment rental would be our best bet. I've noticed that a lot of the condos for rent in Aruba, are part of a resort complex, which I think would be ok.

Here are a few things that we are looking for:
- 1 or 2 bedroom suite (with kitchenette would be great)
- on the beach (beach needs to be shallow, calm - baby friendly)
- swimming pool (a kiddie pool would be great)
- restaurants/shopping nearby
- a small playground on or near property (not a necessity but would be really helpful)!

That's about it. We don't have a set budget but we have to keep it to under $7000 including flights (we're coming from Toronto).

I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you,
Alisa

Hotels with kitchens/ettes would include the Amsterdam Manor and the Aruban Resort and Casino f/n/a the La Cabana. They are both located on Eagle Beach.

Costa Linda and Playa Linda are time share condos on Palm Beach with kitchens.

Also, take a look at the Divi Phoenix - I was just there. The ocean water is warm and calm and they have a kiddie pool. Also, take a look at the Divi Dutch Village. This is an older property so it's a little more reasonable in price. Both properties have one bedrooms. www.diviresorts.com

Just thought I'd update everyone. We've decided to rent a condo (Oceania Residences) at Eagle Beach. It was a little somewhat less expensive than booking a resort. I'll post a review when we've returned. Thank you for the advice.

You made an excellent choice. Oceania is across the street from a beautiful uncrowded beach.
