Are there Casinos in Jamaica?

A friend of mine just won a trip to Jamaica end of April and will be staying at the Ritz Carlton there. She asked me if there were casinos in Jamaica and I am not sure - so are there casinos there? Thanks

No,thank God...

There are however, Chinese gambling halls, esp.during marlin season in Port Antonio. Lotto is the prime national gambling pastime. A casino however with be incompatible with both the Ritz and the island.

Some resorts have slot machines, but no full fledged casinos, that I have heard of.

I think from time to time, the issue is brought up to the legislature...

In Montego Bay there is Coral Cove, which has video slots and video poker.

I did notice a few slot machines and video poker machines in a hotel in Kingston, but not what you'd actually call a casino.

Wow lucky girl!

There are no casinos in Jamaica (it is presently under review by the government) however there is only one place in Montego Bay where you can do some gambling - Coral Cliff Hotel and Gaming Lounge - a surprising very nice place to be at nights.

Your friend will need to get a taxi from her hotel which is in Rosehall about 15- 20minutes ride from Gloucester Avenue where all tourist activities are centered.

Coral Cliff have a website so you can take a look
