Are the ocean beaches in Puerta Vallarta clean?

We are planning a trip of 10 people to PV, but have heard that the beaches and the ocean waters are not clean, even disgusting and to limit ourselves to the hotel pool. Are we being given bad info? Please respond.

I vacationed in PV 5 years ago and the beaches were very clean. We stayed at the Camino Real which was the BEST because the beach was private (few hawking jewelry on the beach which becomes tiring) The resort had very good food and rooms were very nice with ocean view..

2 years ago the beaches and ocean were fine. The ocean is not the clear, crystal blue of the Caribbean, but we went swimming every day. We walked on the beach daily and it was very clean.

I was in PV two years myself. All Mexico beaches
are public, and while they are clean of trash, they
are "littered" with vendors, some of which will NOT
take no for an answer.

Do yourself a favor; take your friends, grab a couple of cabs (or mabye even three), and drive south of town about a mile or so to a small little beach in view of Los Arcos. Bring your fins, mask, snorkel, etc. and jump on in. The water is clear, there's a lot of fish, and, best of all, no thieves or vendors!

PV is a beautiful place, but watch your credit card and ask for your carbon - I used a debit card with a VISA logo on it - connected to my checking account, neglected to asked the shop clerk for my carbon, and got ripped off big time ($500 swiped from my checking account!)

Have fun, take care, and good luck!

Hi Ken,
Read your message and yes I have been to PV twice in the last 6 months. The first time I stayed at the Qualton Club. Nice hotel but not so nice beach. The second time I stayed at the Marina and the hotel was called the Royal Maeva now its called Paradisus. It's a five star hotel without a beach. Nothing but a retaining wall to look at from the pool. I toured the town several times during my stay(s) and in my opinion there are only two areas I would recommend if you are beach people. The first is the Paradise Beach Hotel in Nuevo Vallarta, about 30 minutes to town from the hotel and yes you can take a bus. And the other hotel is La Jolla de Mismaloya. A marvellous place with with sand beaches just like in the Caribbean. About 10 to 12 minutes to town. Please do yourself a favor and star away from the hotels in town and at the marina, if you dont you will be disappointed.

greetings,
the beaches in PVR and more golden and brown, as
apposed to the white beaches of the caribbean.
The best beaches in PVR are at La Jolla DeMismaloya,
I believe the spelling is close to correct. The Camino Real is there and is beautiful, there is
not nearly as much pandering. Have a great time

How is Puerta Vallarta since the hurricane hit??

Has anyone been to Camino Reale recently??

What resturants are there at Camino Reale?? Your opinion of them??

Thanks for your input.
