Are advanced Jeep rental reservations necessary over Spring Break?

We are planning a trip to St. John USVI in March and would like to have the freedom that a car rental provides. We were there a few years ago, and I seem to remember we enjoyed having a Jeep and putting the top down; however, I noticed a few of the rental agencies don't allow that which I found odd. I know it will be a busy time in the islands and was wondering if advanced reservations would be recommended. Can anyone recommend one rental company over another? Thanks.

i would make a reservation. don't recall who we used. might have had a deal on avis. we had a sebring convertible. i think the issue with the jeeps is that the tops take time to get on & off and ppl don't bother to put the tops back on when it rains. the intense sun probably breaks down the seats too.

Definitely make reservations as soon as possible. We've used both Courtesy and C&C on St. John.

Virginia is correct on the reason that rental companies don't allow the tops to be taken down.

I would make your reservation YESTERDAY - spring break is one of our busiest times of the year and the chances of you finding a car now are slim. Good Luck to you.

We have used Conrad Sutton and Courtesy and they were both very good.
