Anyone mountain biked in Aruba?

Jill: It's not totally flat. <BR> <BR>I haven't used a mountain bike there, but I have driven a small motorcycle around the island. <BR> <BR>Most tour operators will drop off your vehicle, equipment, whatever, when you reserve it in advance, right to your hotel. <BR> <BR>Aruba is arid, very desert-like, so you'll want to take some water with you when you go out exploring. You can ride around the island that is just 19 miles long and six miles wide. The windward (west) side is quite barren and has trails that you can drive or ride. Not real steep, except for the "Hoolburg" (or haystack mountain), you can see the island best by just riding around it. The windward side offers plenty of landscape for exploring by bike. <BR> <BR>Don't know anything about cost. <BR> <BR>Have fun!

Jill- <BR>I've been to Aruba before and have to say that I've never seen anyone moutain bike up Hooiburg. It is very steep and wouldn't seem to lend itself to biking. I have walked to the top and have seem Dutch military types running up the steps for training, but I wouldn't recommend it for biking. The posting above is right that you could do some riding around the island. Just know that speeds are fast on most of the paved roads on Aruba. I'm not sure that I'd want to mix it up with the traffic. <BR> <BR>The inner part of the island is desert and I can't offer much advice on what it would be like to ride, but there are trails that the jeep tours use you may want to try. Be sure to enjoy the Natural Bridge and the natural pool that are on the north side of the island. <BR> <BR>Have fun!
