I hope you see this post, I haven't logged on in a while.
Yes I've stayed at the Coral Hamaca. My son and I stayed there X-mas of 97 and 2000. The first trip was better. In 97 there was horsebacking riding and tennis + bikes included in the price of the room. In 2000 you had to pay xtra. In 97 the x-mas eve buffet dinner was included in the price of a room, in 2000 you had to pay extra (so I had dinner with the babysitter's family in Santo Domingo and it was a hell of a lot better).
The beach is wonderful place to snorkle and try your hand at sailing! In 97 the jacuzzi by the beach worked in 2000 it was out of service. But they built another jacuzzi by the bar area at the end of the beach and customers of the Hamaca are only supposed to use it on certain days! I said %&$# em and used it when I wanted!
The chinese resturaunt sucked, stick with the main buffet room! Oh yeah, they had a little buffet area for the beach with pizza & franks (hot dogs) which was okay.
Be firm with the staff at the front desk because they can sometimes be iffy. I had to call the American Embassy for help when I couldn't get thru to my son & nanny in Santo Domingo (I flew down 3 days later because of work) and the hotel kept telling my friends and family I had not checked in when I did, and when I used the hotel phone, I could never get thru to my contacts in Santo Domingo. When I started to act up and got thru to the Embassy lo & behold my family was able to get thru to my room!
All and all the 97 trip was much better.
Good luck

hi,
i satyed there this past memorial day weekend. 5/02. i would not recommend this place at all. first of all its not all inclusive as they say. the resturants that are inclusive are mediocre at best and its just a buffet style with cold food. the one resturant on the beach is excellent, the pelican if i remember correctly is excellent but you had to pay and a dinner for 4 with 2 bottles of wine was approx $180. we ended up eating there 2 nights out of four because we thgouhtt eh hotel food was terrible. as for drinks. you have one choice of tap beer, i belive presidente. if you want bottled beer, you must pay. the house wine was gross. we ended up buying bottles of wine at the pelicans prices. we managed to have a good time but only because of the people i was with. the one good thing is that the rooms are nice and spacious and very clean. we chose this place over punta cana to save some money but ended up spending way more than i would have at the paradisus in punta cana. i do not recommend this hotel.
