Anybody here know Las Brisas on Virgin Gorda?

I'm having a little trouble settling on a villa for upcoming trip to VG in July. Travelers will be my husband, our 15 year old granddaughter, and I for 5 nights.

We need two bedrooms, we would prefer to have a/c in the bedrooms, and we definitely want a pool on site. You'd think it would be superfluous, but really what we love after a day of snorkeling is to soak in some non-salty water! We never feel a shower eliminates the salty coating completely.

The other villa we're considering is Virgin Oriental Villa, which is a little less expensive. Both Las Brisas and VOV are located near the Baths and managed by Guavaberry. Las Brisas is really pushing the envelope in terms of price, so anything more expensive than that really won't do for us, I'm afraid.

The other area we would consider is the Mahoe Bay area. The Mango Bay villas are in our price range but lacking a swimming pool, and everything else there appears to be too expensive.

We definitely don't want the Leverick Bay area, and from what others have indicated, we'd prefer not staying at Nail Bay, either.

So, any suggestions? Many many thanks!

I've answered some of your questions about VOV on another website, but I'll add a couple of things here.

We stayed at VOV in July 2004 and found it to be a good value. We visited Las Brisas on that trip, and the place is definitely a little newer, the decor a little more updated. Is it worth the extra money? That's your call.

The pool at VOV is shaded for a good portion of the day (late afternoon, I think) and I'm not sure that's the case at Las Brisas. Also, VOV has screened sliding doors in the main room -- I'm not sure if that's true at LB, and we appreciate the breeze without the bugs. You might double check on that with the Guavaberry folks.

I am very jealous of your trip! No pressure, but bookings soon might make your decision for you.

Thanks for the input, Jim. I"ll go check TTOL now.

IN case you see this again...I know that in both cases that the two bedrooms aren't housed under the same roof. In the case of VOV they are on two floors with no interior connection and with Las Brisas they are in two small cottages separated by the pool. On an island like VG I would feel comfortable with those arrangements traveling with a teen. Your opinion?

Also, which one is a closer walk to the Baths?

I can totally agree with you on wanting the pool after a day in the salt water! The cool pool water will feel great on sunburned salt covered skin.

GoT, you are so right! Plus it's so nice to slide into the pool first thing in the morning, or late at night after dinner & cocktails to watch the stars. I love swimming at night but I confess that I'm too nervous to do so in the ocean.

Ej - las briasas is closer, but virgin oriental is not far either. You can easily walk to the baths from either. The homes are actually close to one another. VO is closer to guavaberry's "private" part of spring bay and the commissary. It is really nice to be closer to their facilities. However, las brisas is a nicer house. We did enjoy many afternoons at the pool at VO in Nov. Its a tough choice, but if it just comes down to cost and las brisas is too much $$ I am sure you will find VO will be just fine. There are some issues with the house, but they are mostly cosmetic. :)

Agreed on all the comments from above. You can't go wrong, and Spring Bay is one of the prettiest beaches in the Caribbean.

Thanks again, y'all. I heard back from Guavaberry about the relataively limited availability for VOV and Las Brisas. I have to make the decision soon or else the calendar wil make it for me. Thank you for your continued and much valued input!
