Any questions , just returned fom Martinique .
Just returned home after seven nights in Martinique . The island is beautiful with plenty to do and see . Stayed at Habitation Lagrange which is a four star hotel in Marigot . The htel has only seventeen rooms and one suite . The old stable which is converted into rooms is secluded and the rooms are lovely . Stayed in the suite which has two bedrooms . Airy and spacious . Staff was great , helps if you spek French . We do not speak French , but had no difficulty communicating . Everyone on the island was helpful . Not the best beaches in the Carribean , but alot of sightseeing to do othewise .
I'll be glad to answer any questions on Martinique .

I am planning a trip to Martinique, Dominica, and St. Lucia in March. I am concerned about the extent of damage from hurricane Lenny in these islands; impact to beaches, villages (especially on the ocean), infrastructure. Can you tell me what you may have experienced in this regard? Thanks.

Gail - Le Meridien is decent. Nice pool, smallish beach, decent grounds. The hotel itself is a typical Meridien - they're all the same. In my opinion the hotel right next door to Le Meridien, i.e., Sofitel La Bakoua, is nicer. Much prettier grounds, somewhat bigger beach, and the hotel itself has some personality. Also includes a wonderful buffet breakfast in the price.

Best beaches on Martinique are on the southern tip, near St. Anne. There aren't any small islands nearby for short trips; you might be thinking of Guadeloupe, from which you can easily take day trips to Les Saintes, Marie-Galante, La Petite Terre or La Desirade.

Message for Simone : Guadeloupe and Martinique are both volcanic islands, i.e. attracting a lot of clouds and rain in the mountainous area. Consequently the so called "rainy" season between August and early November is not the most adequate. On top of that, it is the hurricane season. Does not happen every year, but...

I went to the Club Med Martinique a few years ago and would not go back. Although I have heard that there was quite a bit of rennovation done that last couple of years there, there is little to no "beach" to speak of. There is some good snorkling and sailing through Club Med and the evening cruise is wonderful, but if you are looking for a great beach, you might choose the Club Med Columbus Ise in the Bahamas as a much better choice, the facilities are new and the beach is beautifull. Very safe there as well.

Have a great time.

Hi! I'm going to Martinique in February and staying at Habitation LaGrange for 1/2 of the week and then a little hotel in Diamant the other half. Any advice on things to see/do or helpful hints? We were interested in seeing the volcano - were you able to do that?
Thanks!
Thanks!
