Any good cheap budget hotel in old San Juan?

Hello, I would like to visit Puerto Rico, and would like to stay in a hotel in old San Juan. I am looking for a clean cheap budget place (less than $100 a night), where I could stay with my husband and parents.
Any sugggestion?

Try El Prado, or Hotel Milano. Don't
have the phone numbers right her but
can find them for you if you don't come
up with them on the internet.

You can go to tripadvisors.com and find phone #'s on the web. I stayed at El Prado in for 2 nights. As long as your NOT expecting a 5 star the location is good, and safe. The staff are very nice and friendly. It is very old. I had heard the El Canario Inn (??) had been refurbished and was nice for an inexpensive hotel. You can read some latest reviews on tripadvisors.com

Don't know of one in Old San Juan, but I've stayed at Best Western Hotel Pierre in Santurce and it was a very quick cab ride into Old San Juan. I haven't stayed there recently, but have friends who stayed last year and enjoyed it.

We liked this particular hotel because it was also close to some restaurants (namely Metropol), a grocery store, and the beach.

Just an FYI, the Metropol near the Pierre has been torn down.

Other hotels in Old San Juan are the Plaza de Armas (recently opened), El Convento and the Wyndham OSJ (not the one in Isla Verde).

El Prado and El Canario are in Condado, not OSJ.

The Hotel Milano in Old San Juan was fine. Rooms were modern, and you can't beat the location. I stayed there alone and felt perfectly safe. www.hotelmilanopr.com. Summer rates start at $75.
