Any Club Meds to be recommended?
Just posted on all inclusives but wanted a more current view from those having been to club meds. Thinking about heading there(January) with family but our "children" are already 21 and 24. Thought a complete type of resort would be better than them wandering around the island on their own. Is there anything more upscale?

hi horatio, have you looked at the club med in turks and caicos? it's an all adult club on a very safe island if the "kids" decide they need to head out for a look see. excellent beach.
also, you might look at the riu resorts group as i believe they are more upscale.. and more resorts are listed on this link: http://www.ultimateall-inclusivetrav...e_star_resorts |
How warm would Turks and Caicos be at New Year's? I should look it up.

I have been to multiple Club Meds including Martinique, Cancun, Turks & Caicos, Dominican Republic, Colorado. The only one I did not like was Martinique (and that was the first one I went to).
Turks & Caicos are above the Caribbean so would be a bit cooler than the Caribbean at New Year's. I am sure it would be tolerable as I've been there later in January and was in a bathing suit on the beach every day. The resort is on a relatively quiet island so if they did go out on their own there is not much they would find to do anyway. I thought Turks was gorgeous - most beautiful beach I've seen and I've seen a lot of beaches. The "children" would really enjoy this resort even if they never left the grounds and I am sure you would too. Turks has a lot of Canadian ex-patriates living there. Cancun is a nice Club and your "children" could pick up the bus next door at the Westin Regina and go right into Cancun if they wanted to go out (several of us went out together while there and it was fun - I am not a "party" person per se). Oops - I just noticed that was what you were trying to avoid. Forget Cancun. |
Actually, I'd strongly recommend the Club Med on Martinique now that it's been renovated into a lovely, upscale resort. It's a very different place than it was a few years ago, and I'd probably rank it with the best of the Club Meds in the Caribbean. It's more in line with the very upscale extension of the club in Marrakech.
The club in Punta Cana has an excellent location and great beach but isn't nearly as upscale. |
How about Club Med Columbus Isle. It's more geared to adults (but not an adults only) and it has been one of the best rated Club Meds. It would be great for watersports if they like that.
