any advice about the Cayman Islands?

We're trying to decide between the Cayman Islands or St. Thomas staying at a Wyndham Hotel.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

What do you want in an island vacation?

What made you consider the two islands on your list?

If you post s list of the 5 or 10 top things that are important to you we can perhaps guide you.

Overall we prefer Grand Cayman over St Thomas. Love 7 mile beach and the variety of restaurants on Cayman. Good snorkeling and sting ray city. We like St Thomas for ease of access to St John and the British Virgin Islands and some fantastic jewelry shopping:)

I have not been to St Thomas but friends have. Our stay at the Grand Cayman Islands was wonderful, friendly people, beautiful beaches and great blue waters with lots of watersports. Dining was good. It is a low key island without a big nightlife but that is what we wanted traveling as a family. St Thomas is busier and not as friendly from what I have gathered between my friends visit and other posts I have read on it.

Grand Cayman! Love Seven Mile beach

Grand Cayman is way more friendly IMO. It's also feels much safer than STT. Just going on what I've read about the crime that happens in STT, I would be much more careful there. GC feel very safe no matter where you drive to. There are areas of STT I'd stay away from, especially at night.
Snorkeling in GC is MUCH better. Hands down.
GC also has some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean.
Only downside to GC is it is very expensive.

If you have more than 2 people in your party, staying in a condo on Seven Mile Beach is a good alternative to a hotel. This will eliminate the need for 2 rooms.
Also, you will save a lot of money by eating breakfast or lunch in your condo.

We have stayed at the Sunshine Suites, across the street from Seven Mile. This is a beautiful Island, and a glorious Beach. Comparing St. Thomas to Cayman is like comparing a apples to Pineapples. On any given hour, I would return to The Cayman Island in a second. St. Thomas, not so much. Just that different.

Grand Cayman no doubt.

On St Thomas, Sugar Bay used to be affiliated with Wyndham, but no more. I don't think there is a Wyndham hotel anymore, although there may be time shares...

Has anyone visited Grand Cayman in May??

RoamsAround Dec 20th, 2017 01:06 PM

Yes, May is a great time to visit with generally good weather and no crowds.

You should know, the entire Caribbean has some of it's best weather during May.
