Antigua or St Lucia

We are trying to decide between Antigua and St Lucia. If anybody has been to both, would appreciate some advice. We like good food, both upscale and also local roadside barbecues (local restaurants). It appears that both have rain forest and lush landscaping, which would be great as we like to do some exploring. Also like quiet white sand beaches to relax on. Not big into snorkling but would be a bonus. Also any advice on hotel suggestions on either island would be great. Thanks in advance.

For what's it's worth St. Lucia is much more lush than Antigua. In fact Antigua is a relatively arid island when compared to St. Lucia.

On the other hand, the beaches on St. Lucia have much darker sand (in some places it is very dark grey or almost black) while the sand on Antigua's beaches are quite light in hue ranging from off-white to light gold.

We have found our trips to Antigua to be pleasant experiences. The weather has been delightful in February as well as March/April. The temperature seldom fluctuate. Good food, a nice rain forest and nice beaches.

Although St Lucia does have a better rain forest, we can see no other reason to choose this island over Antigua. Including the not so nice beaches.
