We had a fantastic place on Shoal Bay East to stay call the KU. If you go under tripadvisor.com put in Ku Anguilla under search you will find photos and reviews, one by me. Very pleased-would go back without a doubt.

Kristen1206:

thanks for your vote on my opinion!
;-)

I've been to both numerous times (not as much as HowardC though!) and love both.

ginasquest: Somerset in Provo is one of my favorite resorts in the world, but you may want to check out Grace Bay Club or Regent Palms, for the excellent kids clubs they have. I find Provo to have more "family" activities, Anguilla to be more romantic. Both are upscale, with Anguilla's resorts more like ultra resort rooms, Provo is more upscale condo with full kitchens, living areas, yet still has services like an upscale resort. I find Somerset to be ultra luxury, yet laid back at the same time.

I find T&C to be more water activities-banana boats, great off the beach snorkeling in front of Coral Gardens. (7 year old, and 32 year old would love this!) T&C has some of the best spas in the world, the one at the Palms has been featured in numerous travel magazines.

I find Anguilla to have better restaurants, (not that T&C's are shabby!)maybe a more Caribbean vibe.

T&C has the most incredible beach, and so family friendly. The turquoise water in T&C is the prettiest in the world (not that Anguilla's are shabby!). the water excursions are great.

We have gone to Anguilla almost every year for the past 20 but decided to try Provo this year, we were there 20 yrs ago also. While Provo is on a building boom, so is AXA but on a smaller scale. No island can beat Anguilla for dining and the beaches are magnificant. However, in our opinion, Anguilla is at a critical point where it's turning into a very, very high-end luxury destination. Even moderate to expensive accommodations are being eliminated/knocked down for luxury digs at prices afforded only by the rich and famous not to mention the luxury yacht port now under development. I say that as a nonbudget visitor who is starting to question where Anguilla is headed and noticing that they are primarily promoting luxury tourism.

Any comments about Beaches Resort T&C? Now trying to pick an AI on T&C that offers great beach, real luxury and kids program. Help!

Ginasquest:
I would equate Beaches to be in between a Holiday Inn to a Marriott type place, Regent Grand to be a Ritz Carlton/Four Seasons place. Beaches is the nicest AI I've ever been too-but it's crowded, and frankly, while Beaches is fun and awesome, to me doesn't match T&C's personality. Neither T&C nor Anguilla are really AI type places. The food at Beaches is decent, but the restaurants in T&C are great, some of the best in Caribbean. (Okay, Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Barth beats it-but it beats all the other islands in my opinion.)

Beaches is a blast, but for my tastes, I like staying other places in T&C. The rooms at the other resorts mentioned are very luxurious, Beaches does the job-but I find you actually get better rooms for your money at the others.

All the resorts on Grace Bay (where most are located) are on a perfect beach. Beaches has the most crowded and most narrow stretch of it-with lounge chairs linded up like cruise ships. (Nothing wrong with that-depends what you're want out of a vacation.)

To me, more luxury is at Regent Palms, Grace Bay Club, or Somerset.

Provo has beautiful beaches and water, but Anguilla's are better, the people are friendlier, the restaurants more delicious. While there are many "high end" resorts, there are accommodations ranging from very expensive to very reasonable. My favorites are Cap Juluca and CoveCastles but Ku, Frangipani, Carimar, Arawak Beach Inn are some other choices. There are also condos for rent in various price ranges. While I was there in June, I checked out a new condo development with rental options. Ocean Terrace is brand new, looked very lovely. The view is gorgeous. It's not on the beach but is a five minute drive from Shoal Bay East. The owner of the complex lives on site. There are other condos and villas available in various price ranges. There is a minigolf and bumperboats palce available for kids.

I've been to T&C 3 times (once with a 3 yr and 18 mo old) and I'm headed to Anguilla with the children (now 5 and 3) in Oct. Though I can't tell you about Anguilla yet, I can say that Grace Bay is amazing!!! We love it so much it was a hard decision to go somewhere else. But Anguilla has such great reviews we are giving it a chance.

All 3 times in T&C, we have stayed at Ocean Club West. Though it is not a super luxury place like the Palms, it has great condos that accomodate a family well. The pool is sort of a circular shape with and "island" in the middle and bridges to get to it. The kids loved it!! Though it is not a Beaches, that was fine for us. Each time we were there, we walked past beaches and it looked like a spring break peak season because it was so crowded while all the other resorts on Grace Bay were not crowded at all. Just depends on what you're looking for! We also checked out The Sands and it is really nice too. What's great about Grace Bay is you can just walk along the beach to all the different restaurants...even with kids, it's not bad, and it's oh-so-enjoyable making that walk at sunset and in the moonlight!!!!
