Your pictures were spectacular! I was so immersed in them, I almost felt that I was actually there. Thank you for your thoughtful time and effort.

Kristen: Thanks for sharing! Your pix are great. The beaches look amazing. I remember your really nice pix from Grand Cayman (we'll be going there in February). Hubby, toddler and I were originally going to Frangipani this month but we changed it and went to Mexico (Riviera Maya) instead a couple of weeks ago (beach was fabulous by the way). You reminded me that we do need to do Anguilla soon!

Great, detailed review. We are leaving in 2 1/2 weeks for the island and staying in a villa. How did you set up the car rental with Connors? If not for the computer glitch, would they have met you at the port? We are also flying into SXM and were looking into the Link ferry. Did you find taxi's easily and conveinent or do you recommend another alternative? Do you know if there is transport available right from SXM?

Hi Njk2. I am envious 2.5 weeks there! I know you will have a great time.

The trip from SXM to Anguilla was super easy. There are an abundance of cabs at the airport waiting and you just need to tell them to take you to the ferry port. It's about a 20 minute cab ride. $15 or $16. The whole ferry process is simple as well. Not sure about other transport from SXM.

Andy would ahev met us at the ferry port if he had known what time we were arriving. I would email him in advance and give him your estimated arrival time. His email is [email protected]. Great guy. I also saw another car rental place at the port. But I would go with Andy. He was very conscientious, car had no problems and he is a wealth of info.

Let me know if you have any more questions..

Kristen

The "other car rental" at the port is just advertising -- it's illegal -- as in against the law -- for a resort or rental car company to send a car to the port or airport in Anguilla (strong taxi lobby -- ditto St. Martin). This guy Andy is skating on thin ice & it's just a matter of time 'til they stop him & then some poor schlub is going to be standing at the dock waiting on a car that isn't coming.

It may be illegal but at least 2 other gentleman offered me cars at the port while we were waiting for Andy.

I just viewed your pictures. Wonderful! I could almost feel the sand. Our trip is quickly approaching. Did you enjoy all of the beaches equally? We are staying in South Hill, so which beach would be closest and/or best? Also, did you find your corolla was suitable for the week, or would a jeep have been better?
I'm sure I'll have more questions, but thanks in advance for all your help!

My favorite beaches were Meads and Shoal Bay East.

In South Hill you will be closest to Rendezvous and Meads.

The section of Rendezvous by the Reendezvous Beach hotel was the nicest (calm with great views of St. Martin). The closer you get to CusinArt the windier it was and rougher the water was (at least when we were there) because that section of beach isn't as protected.

I know if you eat at Frangi for lunch they will give you use of their beach chairs and umbrellas. We liked Meads because it was so wide and perfect and hardly an people on it.

Shoal Bay Beach we liked because of the snorkeling, different shades of blue/turquoise water and the close proximity of beach bars/restaurants. If you eat at Madeariman they will allow you to use their beach cairs and umbrellas free. Uncle Ernie's had the best pina coladas.

Our corolla was fine for everything we did and we saw most of the island. The only place people told me it might be hard to get to would be windward point.

Let me know if you have more questions!
