Anguilla Qns - beaches, restaurants, activities
Going to Anguilla next month staying at Oceana villa. We've been there before but its been many years ('98). So would appreciate your input. Based on my reseach my list of restaurants not to be missed is -
Dinner – Veya and Straw Hat.
Lunch – Da Vida on Croucus bay (free beach loungers), Blanchards beach shack.
Pre-dinner drinks at Sunset lounge (at the Viceroy hotel…beautiful setting)
Beaches not to miss - Shoal Bay East, Maundays Bay, Meads Bay, Barnes bay, Cove Bay, Rendevous Bay.
Activities - Lunch Scilly cay or Sandy Cay, Glass bottom boat (for our girls)
Based on our last trip I remember feeling uncomfortable at Maundays bay (we left after being a bit uncomfotable by the looks we got from Cap Juluca staff on 'their' beach...we felt like we were trespassing). Is there a section of that beach which is more private and away from the resort?
Also would appreciate your feedback on the restaurant selection above and any others you would highly recommend. Also any other must do activities?
Thanks for your help in advance.

At Maunday's Bay the area at the southwestern part of the beach (far right as you are looking at the water) is the furthest from the main parts of the resort and where you'll find the most "privacy". It's where most of the non-resort guests go when they visit the beach.

Ilove Barnes Bay because I stay there, but I wouldn't consider it a must-do beach on island. I think you've got thoes pretty well covered. If you're interested in trying a beach more off the beaten path, think of Savannh Bay/Junk's Hole. It's wild and windswept, and Nat's Place is there and open in high season for drinks and/or lunch. Nori from Anguilla Beaches blog raves about it.
I think you're spot-on with Veya for a special dinner. With kids I'd also recommend Dolce Vita (Italian) and Picante (Mexican). Dolce Vita is higher end and right on the beach in Sandy Ground. Picante is quite casual and lots of fun, on the main road just beyond Viceroy.

Ugh, posted without realizing it. I also felt a little uncomfortable the first time I went to Maundays Bay, but last year on our second trip we loved the serenity of it. We love shade, so we propped our chairs under the palm and sea grapes on the end of the beach closer to the carpark. Every time a staff member passed by, we greeted them and they returned the greetings cheerily.
I'd say that maybe an afternoon at Smokey's on Cove Bay might be worth it. They do live music on weekends, if that's your thing.
My new favorite beach bar from last visit was The Place on Rendezvous--good food, great service, good value, gorgeous beach, comfy lounge chairs, plenty of shade--it basically had everything that we value.
I'd also say that breakfast at Geraud's is a must-do, depending on what part of the island you're staying on. I don't know where Oceana villa is.

Just an update...we got back a couple of weeks ago...great time and cant say enough about Oceana villa...I'll do a proper trip report when I have more time.
Ejcrowe, I think we propped our chairs under the same trees at the far end of the beach...we were the only ones there all afternoon.
Fav restaurant of the trip was Jacala. Veya was a bit too crowded and the food/service was mediocre.

I look forward to your trip report! It's so hard to go all through the cold season with only my island dreams to keep me warm. That's why I value other trip reports so much! Your experience with Jacala vs Veya is just the opposite of ours, but I reckon that differences make the world go 'round.
