Anguilla pictures

Hello all! I have posted a few shots I took on Anguilla last month. I was only there for a couple hours, and had a taxi driver shuttle me around, so I did not get all that many "keepers", but, for what it's worth, here's the link.

Take Care!

Wow,
I loved your photos. You got some fantastic beach shots! Tons of keepers for me!

Gorgeous pictures, but it is hard not to get great pictures on Anguilla.

Thanks for taking me back.

To Pappy: I thought your pictures were great. I was just getting my cameras ready for a trip to the carib. What did you use, film, lens, etc to get that beautiful blue water to come out? I have some pic's from Anguilla, but I just didn't get the "Jump" in the colors that you have captured. Anything you can offer will be appreciated. Tim

Was wondering the same, as the color is amazing.

Wow! Awesome photos. Thanks for sharing. Looks like you used a circular polarizing filter?

Pappy Feb 28th, 2008 08:06 AM

I used a Canon 40D DSLR, and a Tamaron 28-200 MM zoom lens. I actually did not have my polarided filter with me that day, just a clear UV filter. I did a little bit of post processing, using the software available on the Flickr website. I pushed up the contrast and saturation slightly, but that's about it.

The Canon 40D actually uses 14 bit color decoding rather than the 12 bit that most older DSLSs use. That likely helped with the dramatic colors.

Pappy, thank you so much for the reply...it really helped. I ran some of my own Anguilla West Bay shots thru some post picture processing as you discribed and found the process helped greatly.
I have been get OK shots, but not the "Jump" you experienced on the water shots....thanks again for the tip, I'll do a little editiing when I get back from T&C' in mid march.

Your pictures of Anguilla are amazing. We're thinking of traveling there next February. I've heard that there is not much to do on the island besides lounging on the beach. Overall, would you say that it is worth taking a trip there?
