Anguilla or Grenada?
Planning our vacation for the first week of March 2004 and wondered which was a better island?
We are 31 & 35 years old and enjoy great beaches, fine food, some sports and beatiful surroundings. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is March a good time to go weather and water temp wise to either island? |
If beach and find food are the most important - Anguilla.
If beautiful surroundings and sports are most important - Grenada. I've been to both and they are quite different from each other. Weather will be great at that time of year for either. |
I agree with Diana. Anguila has better beaches overall but is not a particularly attractive island in so far as scenery is concerned. Grand Anse on Grenada is competitive though. Anguilla has more upscale restaurants, although you can eat quite well on Grenada. There is a lot more to see and do there if you tire of the beaches.

I agree with above. I have been to both and much preferred Grenada for the scenery and the variety of activities (touring, rainforest walk, snorkelling). Both island are quite safe with friendly locals. From Anguilla you can take a ferry over to St. Martin with ease. From Grenada you can ferry over to Carricou and other nearby small island stops.

Hate to sound like a broken CD, but I agree with the other posters.
For awesome natural beauty and lush mountainous scenery, Grenada has few peers in the Caribbean. Plus Grand Anse is a great beach. But beach-wise Anguilla is pretty peerless. Endless stretches of uncrowded talcum powder sand and unbelievable clear turquoise water. Plus, from Anguilla you can take a cheap ferry to St. Maarten-St. Martin, which has scores of restaurants, some of the best shopping in the islands, casinos and lots of nightlife. |
